영남지방 전기 와질토기의 지역성 및 생산과 분배 -파수부장동옹·양뉴부호·소옹을 중심으로- (Locality, distribution and production of gray pottery in the early period of Yeongnam area – Focusing on Jar with handles, Jar with two nipples and small Jar-)

초록

이 글은 영남지방 전기 와질토기 가운데 파수부장동옹, 양뉴부호, 소옹을 대상으로 각 분기별 지역 간 형태적 특성을 지역성으로 해석하고, 이 지역성을 생산과 결부시켜 해석해 보았다. 아울러 전기 와질토기 생산에서의 지역성을 김해 대 성동소성유구와 민족지 사례를 결부시켜서 검토함으로써 김해지역에서의 토기생산과 분배에 대해서도 추정해 보았다.
전기 와질토기 기종의 하나인 파수부장동옹, 양뉴부호, 소옹은 형태에서 지역 간 특징을 공유하지만, 각 분기마다 지역에따라 특징적인 형태가 있거나, 소지역 단위별로 기형의 차이가 확인되어 이러한 차이를 지역성으로 간주하였다. 지역성이생성되는 원인으로는 첫째, 토기제작의 전 공정과정에서 다양한 변수들이 개입될 가능성, 둘째, 와질토기의 무른 속성을감안하여 한 지역에서 생산된 완제품이 장거리 지역으로 전해졌을 가능성이 적다는 점을 들었다. 결국 파수부장동옹양, 뉴부호, 소옹에서 보이는 지역성은 소지역 단위로 자체 제작된 결과라고 판단하였다.
지역성을 야기한 전기 와질토기의 생산과 관련하여 김해 대성동 소성유구의 구조와 특징을 정리하고, 이와 유사한 민족지 자료를 결부시켜 검토하였다. 그 결과 김해 대성동 소성유구는 짚으로 덮고 점토를 발라 덮은 덮개형 야외소성유구로,이러한 형태는 인도와 중국 운남에서 확인되는 민족지 사례를 통해 볼 때 덮개형 야외소성가마와 전반적으로 닮아 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 이로부터 전기 와질토기 단계의 토기는 이러한 덮개형 야외소성가마에서 소성되었을 가능성을 추론할수 있었다.
마지막으로 김해지역의 토기생산과 분배를 검토한 결과, 대성동 소성유구에서 생산된 토기는 대성동 고분군 집단 내에분배되었을 가능성과 토기의 생산이 한 가족 수준에서 이루어졌지만 소비의 범위는 한 가족의 수준을 넘어서는 것으로 유추하였다.

영어초록

This study aimed to examine locality of features of production of gray pottery in the early period of excavation of wooden coffin grave of Yeongnam area focusing on Jar with handles, Jar with two nipples and small Jar by period, and to interpret the locality in connection with production. In addition, the locality of the gray pottery in the early period was reviewed in link with the pottery kiln relics of Daeseong-dong of Gimha and ethnography cases to estimate the pottery production and distribution of Gimhae area.
When the styles of Jar with handles, Jar with two nipples and small Jar as early gray potteries in the early period, there were local features by period according to the change of shapes and the difference of shapes by region were figured out, which was regarded as localtiy. The reasons for the production of locality includes, firstly, the difference of human composition of potters, secondly, possibility of intervening various variables in the whole process of potter making, and thirdly the low possibility for finished soft pottery products to be delivered to a long distant area.
Thus, locality in Jar with handles, Jar with two nipples and small Jar was determined to be caused by the production by local small units.
In relation to the production of gray potter causing locality, the features and structure of pottery kiln relics of Daeseong-dong of Gimhae were sorted out which was reviewed in connection with the ethnography. As a result, the pottery kiln relics of Daeseong-dong of Gimhae were covering type outdoor kiln relics covered with straws and coated with clay. Such types were similar to those found in India and Unnam, China from the cases of ethnography. From this fact, it is conjectured that the gray pottery of early period was producted from this covering type outdoor kiln.
Finally, when the pottery production and distribution of Gimhae are reviewed, it was estimated to be distributed within Daeseong-dong. Locality of early gray pottery could be the result of pottery production and distribution.
