초록

한국 드라마 역사는 살펴볼 김종학의 「여명의 눈동자」 이전과 이후로 구분한다고 할 만큼 명징한 한국 드라마의 모더니즘 시대를 열었다. 이에 김종학의 드라마는 기존의 감상적 드라마의 마침표를 찍고, 현대의 감각적 이정표를 다시 세웠다고 할 수 있다. 이어서 방영된 김종학 연출의 「모래시계」 또한 MBC에서 SBS로 방송국을 달리하는 후속 작업으로서, 일제강점기와 해방 그리고 한국전쟁을 시대 배경으로 하는 「여명의 눈동자」를 계승하여 현대 산업화 및 5.18 민주화 운동을 파고드는 드라마다.
이에 본고는 드라마 연출가 김종학이 사망 10주년을 맞이하여 그의 대표작 「여명의 눈동자」와 「모래시계」에 나타난 근현대사의 시대적 담론을 이데올로기 구조와 문학적 재현방식으로 살폈다. 논의한 작품은 근현대사의 격동기를 가로지르면서 이데올로기를 중심으로 파편화된 역사의 현장을 호명한다. 거기에 일제강점기에서 민주화 시대에 이르기까지 시대적으로 구조화되며 동시에 문학적 변형을 통해 재현된다. 이는 드라마를 이루는 부분적 요소들이 항구적인 보편적인 가치를 수사적으로 형성한다. 이른바 그가 보여주는 상징적 기표 영상은 문학적 상상력에서 출발하고 있으며 이로 인해 시대적 담론을 제시하는 효과를 수행하고 있다.
구체적으로 그의 드라마의 근현대사 공간은 재현 속에서 제시되며 기억을 연속적인 실제로 보완하기 위하여 연재물로 이루어진다. 역사적 도그마 속에는 활동사진과 같이 영상 이미지로 실체화되며 전형적 인물을 만들어낸다. 「여명의 눈동자」와 「모래시계」는 작품의 조화로운 구성을 위하여 인물들의 전형을 통해 인간과 사회의 본질적인 요소들을 미적으로 성취하는 데 기여한다. 거기에 3인의 주인공들이 각자 다른 의식과 삶을 통해 등장하는데, 「여명의 눈동자」의 경우 최대치(최재성 역), 장하림(박상원 역), 윤여옥(채시라 역) 등이, 「모래시계」의 경우 박태수(최민수 역), 강우석(박상원 역), 윤혜린(고현정 역) 등과 같이 3자 구도를 중심으로 서사가 진행된다. 이들의 유사성은 해소되지 못한 비극적인 현실의 불안하고 불투명한 세계 속에서 각자의 다차원적인 상태로 시대를 관통하면서 묘파되고 있다.
본고의 연구방법으로써 ‘근현대사의 담론과 리얼리즘의 공간’을 파악하기 위하여 주인공들의 핵심 대사를 통해 탐구했다. 첫째 ‘식민지의 디아스포라와 한국전쟁의 분열’을 「여명의 눈동자」로, 둘째 ‘산업화의 소산물과 민주화의 통합’을 「모래시계」를 통해 이데올로기의 구조를 탐색했다. 3장에서는 ‘기억의 서사화와 문학적 표상’을 드러내기 위해 첫째 ‘자아의 기투와 유이민의 정서화’를 「여명의 눈동자」로, 둘째 ‘폭력의 원리와 주체의 서정화’를 「모래시계」를 통해 영상 기표로서의 문학적 재현방식으로 살폈다.

Kim Jonghak has left his mark as a Korean drama director so much that the history of Korean dramas can be divided into before and after Eyes of Dawn. Therefore, Kim Jonghak's drama can be said to have taken the period of the existing emotional drama and reconstructed the modern sensory milestone. As another follow-up work, Hourglass directed by Kim Jonghak, which was aired, and the broadcast station from MBC to SBS, Eyes of Dawn, which is set in the historical background of the Japanese occupation period, liberation, and the Korean War, is a drama industrialization and 5.18 Democratization Movement.
This writing celebrates the 10th anniversary of the death of drama director Kim Jonghak, and makes use of the ideological structure and literary reproduction method of the historical discourse of modern history that appeared in his representative works Eyes of Dawn and Hourglass. The works discussed are called for the fragmented historical sites centered on ideology across the turbulent period of modern history. It is structured chronologically from the period of Japanese occupation period to the democratization era, and at the same time it is reproduced through literary transformation. This is the effect that the partial elements that make up the drama convey through the literary imagination as symbolic impression images in forming enduring universal values.
Specifically, the space of modern history in his drama is presented in a realistic reproduction and consists of serials to complement the memory in a continuous and actual way. In the historical dogma, it is substantiated as a video image like a moving photograph, creating a person of typicality. Eyes of Dawn and Hourglass contribute to the aesthetic achievement of the essential elements of human and society through the selection of figures, due to the harmonious composition of the work. The three main characters appear through different consciousness and lives, and in the case of Eyes of Dawn, Choi Daechi(Choi Jaeseong casting), Jang Harim(Park Sangwon casting), and Yoon Yeook(Chae Sira casting), in the case of Hourglass, Park Taesu(Choi Minsu casting), Kang Useok(Park Sangwon casting), Yoon Hyerin(Ko Hyeonjeong), the narrative is centered on a three-way structure. These similarities are drawn through time in their respective multidimensional states within a disturbing and opaque world of unresolved tragic reality.
As a research method, in Chapter 2, it explored through the core ambassadors of the main characters in order to grasp the space of discourse and realism in modern history. First, 'colonial diaspora and division of the Korean War' through Eyes of Dawn, and second, 'products of industrialization and integration of democratization' through Hourglass explored the structure of ideology. In Chapter 3, in order to reveal "the narrative of memory and literary representation," it first looked at "the spirit of the self and the emotionalization of immigrant" as Eyes of Dawn, and secondly, "the principle of violence and the lyricization of the subject" as Hourglass, as a literary reproduction method as a video symbol.
