영화 <혈의 누> 속 사회경제사적 구조의 서사화와 사극적 구현 (A Study on the Narration of Socio-Economic and Historical Structure in the Movie )

초록

영화 <혈의 누>는 조선후기 19세기의 섬마을 동화도에서 일어난 살인사건을 다룬범죄스릴러영화다. <혈의 누>의 서사는 여러 역사적 사건들이 맞물려 일어난 조선후기 정치, 사회, 경제사의 구조적 변모를 비유하고 있다.
종이란 글을 적는 수단이며 그 글이 모여서 이루는 지식과 사상, 그리고 그 사상으로 유지되는 정치와 사회를 상징한다. 그 종이를 생산하는 제지소를 중인층인 강 객주가 운영한다는 것은 조선후기 사회의 변동과 경제권력이 성장을 의미한다. 그러나 결과적으로 강 객주가 사족 김치성을 이길 수 없었던 것은 그의 운영권의 사족의 토지소유권을 뛰어넘을 수 없었기 때문이다.
이렇게 유산계급이 지주계급을 압도하지 못하는 역사적 상황 속에서 사람의 이중성도 역사화되어 나타난다. 사족은 대체로 자신의 이익을 유교적 명분론으로 감춘다.
강 객주와 두호의 대화에서도 알 수 있듯이 강 객주조차도 신분을 초월하지는 못한 이중성을 보인다. 백성과 만신은 이익을 챙기면서도 현실을 해석할 지적 능력이 없기에오판을 내리게 되었다.
하부구조의 미흡함과 사람이 처한 역사적 상황은 곧 조선후기 사상의 부패를 의미한다. 서자 인권이 배운 산학과 과학은 유교적 사회질서에서 비주류 학문이었다. 이때문에 인권은 이 학문을 오로지 사람을 죽이는 데에만 활용한다. 인권은 출세를 위해 무고한 일가족을 죽인 원규의 아버지 지상의 만행을 지적하며 원규에게 자살에 가까운 죽음으로 복수한다. 부끄러움을 모르는 자는 사람이 아니다. 하지만 인권조차도 유교의 언어를 구사한다는 점에서 유교로부터 자유롭지 못하다. 진정 자유로운 인물은소연이다. 소연은 인권을 따르는 열부처럼 보이지만 복수의 논리로부터 자유롭다. 그녀가 상징하는 자유연애사상은 사상의 부패를 막을 수 있는 방법이었지만, 그녀의 죽음 후 사상의 부패는 환경의 부패로 이어졌다.
영화 <혈의 누>는 전근대와 근대의 충돌, 그리고 역사란 무엇에 의해서 움직이는지를 고찰하게 해주는 영화이다. 2005년 이래로 신자유주의가 창궐하는 오늘날에 이 영화는 단순히 역사 속 인물이나 사건을 차용하는 수준을 넘어서, 하부구조와 상부구조의 관계를 서사화시킨 작품으로 평가될 필요가 있을 것이다.

영어초록

<Blood Rain> is a crime thriller about a murder case that took place in Donghwa Island, an island village in the late 19th century of the Joseon Dynasty. In fact, <Blood Rain> has a poor aspect as a detective story compared to other video works, but on the other hand, its narrative encompasses structural changes in politics, society, and economy in the late Joseon Dynasty that occurred in conjunction with various historical events.
Paper is a means of writing, and it symbolizes the knowledge and ideas formed by the gathering of the writing, and the politics and society maintained by those thoughts. The fact that Kang Gaekju, a middle-class man, runs the paper mill that produces the paper signifies the social changes and economic power growth in the late Joseon Dynasty. However, as a result, Kang Gaekju could not win Kimchiseong who was Noble Class, because his right to operate it could not exceed the land ownership of the Noble Class.
In this historical situation in which the Bourgeoisie class does not overwhelm the landlord class, the duality of people also appears as a historicization. Noble Class usually hides their interests with Confucian cause theory. As can be seen from the conversation between Kang Gaek-ju and Doo-ho, even Kang Gaek-ju shows a duality that does not transcend social class. The people and the mansin showed the result of misjudgment because they did not have the intellectual ability to interpret the reality while taking advantage.
The insufficiency of the Basis and the historical situation of people mean the corruption of the ideology of the late Joseon Dynasty. Mathematics and science that Bastard In-Kwon learned were non-mainstream studies in the Confucian social order. Because of this, In-Kwon used this study only to kill people. In-Kwon points out the atrocities of Won-gyu's father Ji-sang, who killed innocent family members for the sake of success, and avenges Won-gyu with a near-suicidal death. A person who does not know shame is not a person. However, even In-Kwon is not free from Confucianism in that he speaks the language of Confucianism. So-yeon is a truly free person. So-yeon looks like a woman who follows In-Kwon, but is free from the logic of revenge. The idea of free love symbolized by her was a way to prevent the corruption of ideas, but after her death, the corruption of ideas led to the corruption of the environment.
The movie <Blood Rain> is a film that makes us consider the collision between the pre-modern and the modern, and what drives history. It needs to be evaluated as a work that narrates the relationship between the Basis and the Superstructure beyond the level of simply borrowing characters or events from history.
