초록

이것은 小訥 盧相稷(1855∼1931)의 年譜 『先府君編年』을 抄譯하고, 그 門人錄 『紫巖契帖』의 原文을 입력한 것이다.
소눌 노상직의 연보 『선부군편년』은 그의 아들 成齋 盧家容(1893∼1940)이 엮은 것이다. 소눌 노상직의 서거 후 그의 遺文을 수습해서 문집을 편찬하던 1932년경에 엮어서, 문집 발간 뒤에 다시 挽祭文 등과 함께 附錄으로 간행할 계획을 가졌던 것으로 추정된다. 하지만 그러한 계획이 여의치 않았던지, 上欄에 年月과 事跡 등에 대한 수정사항 일부가 기록된 필사본의 상태로 남아 있다. 개인소장에 총 39장으로, 끝의 考終과 初喪 등을 기록한 부분이 缺落되었다. 연보 본문 항목 외에도, 필요한 경우 그 본문 항목에 雙行의 細註를 붙여 놓아, 현재 전하는 소눌 노상직에 대한 가장 내용이 풍부하고 신뢰할 만한 생애자료이다.
소눌 노상직의 문인록 『자암계첩』은 그가 1896년(고종건양1) 密陽 蘆谷에 紫巖草廬를 짓고 강학한 두 해 뒤인 1898년(고종광무2) 무술년부터 시작해서 그가 서거한 1931년 신미년까지 기록된 入門 제자들의 同講契帖이다. 필사본 총 42장으로, 부산대학교도서관 소장본과 소눌 노상직의 후손 盧圭鉉 소장본의 두 종이 현재 전한다. 入錄한 사람이 807인에 이르고, 지역적으로는 경상남도뿐만 아니라 경상북도 전역에 걸쳐 있으며, 전라도, 충청도, 경기도, 황해도, 함경도 등에까지 미쳐 있다. 1899년 기해년 앞에다 昌寧 克己齋에서 入門했다가 밀양까지 따라와서 수학한 5인을 먼저 적고, 이어서 講會(또는 契會) 일자의 연월을 밝혀서 적은 다음, 그 강회(또는 계회)에 참여한 사람을 姓名, 字, 生年, 本貫, 官職, 出身地를 순서대로 기록하였다. 소눌 노상직 門人의 규모와 지역적 분포, 문인 개개의 기본 인적사항을 파악할 수 있는 중요한 자료이다.
아래에서는 『선부군편년』(노규현 복사본)을 초역하고, 『자암계첩』(노규현 소장본)의 원문을 입력하였다. 먼저 『선부군편년』의 내용 중, 본문 항목은 전부 옮기고, 각 항목의 세주는 적절하게 가감해서 대괄호로 묶어 제시하였다. 인물의 경우 號와 姓名 및 生卒年을 밝히고, 저작의 경우 문집을 참조해서 그 제목을 밝혀서 소괄호로 묶어서 제시하였다. 또 필요한 보충설명도 소괄호로 묶어서 제시하였다. 이 외 연보 본문 항목 중 일부에는 약간 증보한 곳도 있다. 다음 『자암계첩』은 원문을 해당 연도 간지 다음에 서기만 소괄호에 넣어서 그대로 입력하되, 앞에 나온 인물과 동일하여 기록하지 않은 출신지 등은 밝혀서 적었다. 이와 함께 『선부군편년』 초역 뒤에 따로 大訥 盧相益(1849∼1941)의 略傳을 첨부해서 이해의 편의를 도왔다.

영어초록

This paper contains the selected translation of the Chronology of Sonul Rho Sang-Jik’s (1855–1931) Life and the original text of the Record of Sonul’s Students.
The Chronology of Sonul’s Life was compiled by his son, Seongjae Rho Ga-Yong (1893–1940). It is assumed that after the death of Sonul, his son collected and compiled his father’s posthumous writings to publish them in 1932, and again planned to issue them as an appendix along with the funeral formulary. However, as things did not go smoothly as planned, there remains a manuscript with some of the revisions from its years and traces of history in a preceding column. This private collection consists of 39 pages, missing the records of “Peaceful Death” and “Mourning” at the end. Detailed annotations in double-columns are added to other parts of the text, which with its rich content, became a reliable reference of Sonul.
The Record of Sonul’s Students is a list of novice students of Sonul from 1898 (Gwangmu, the reign of King Gojong), the year of the dog; two years after (Geonyang, the reign of King Gojong), he built and taught his students how to make a thatch house in Nogok, Miryang, and until 1931, the year of the goat when he passed away. Currently, the 42-page manuscript only has two copies available, which are owned by Pusan National University and his descendant Rho Gyu-Hyeon. There are a total of 807 people recorded in this work. Regionally, it reaches across Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do, to Jeolla-do, Gyeonggi-do, Hwanghae Province, and Hamgyong Province. Before 1899, the year of the pig, it first recorded five people who became Sonul‘s students at a boot camp in Changnyeong, and they made their way to Miryang. Then, it documented the year and month of Buddhist rituals (or social gatherings), followed by the lists of participants of the events in the order of name, pen name, birth year, family clan, public post, and hometown. This list is a critical material that identified the size of Sonul‘s novice students, their regional distribution, and personal information.
The latter part of this paper contains the selected translation of the Chronology of Sonul’s Life (copy edition by Rho Gyu-Hyeon) and the original text of the Record of Sonul’s Students (owned by Rho Gyu-Hyeon). Moreover, the entire main body of the Chronology of Sonul’s Life was translated, and detailed annotations of each item for the main body are put in square brackets with adequate adjustment. For figures, pen name, name, and birth/death year are revealed; for writings, their titles are put in round brackets referring to literary works. Additional information is also written in round brackets. Furthermore, some parts that have been slightly supplemented in the main body of the Chronology.
For the List of Sonul’s Students, its original text has been written with an AD in round brackets next to the sexagenary cycle of the year, while revealing one’s hometown. However, this has been omitted as it is the same information recorded before. At the end of the Chronology of Sonul’s Life, an account of Daenol Rho Sang-Ik (1849–1941) is added to promote understanding.
