한문본 ‘金山寺創業宴錄’ 계열의 이본적 특성과 위상 (The different versions' characteristics and status of ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines written in Chinese)

초록

본고는 <金華寺夢遊錄>의 양식적 특징과 주제 의식 등을 논의하는 자리에서 종종 소외되었던 ‘金山寺創業宴錄’ 계열의 이본적 특성과 위상을 재조명한 것이다. 그간 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열은 이본 수는 적은데 이본 간의 편차는 매우 크고, ‘金華寺夢遊錄’이나 ‘金華寺記’ 계열에 비해 확대, 부연된 서사 단락이 많아 독특한 이본 정도로 간주되었다. 그러나 최근 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열에 속하는 이본들이 추가로 발견되어 이 계열의 특성 및 지향을 연구할 수 있는 토대가 마련되었고, 한글로 번역되어 활발히 유통된 사실이 확인되면서 이본적 위상에 대한 재고가 요청되는 바, 본고에서는 해당 이본 12종을 대상으로 변개 양상과 의미를 검토하고, 이 계열 이본군의 위상을 살펴보았다.
한문본 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열의 이본적 특성과 의미를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작품에서 明太祖의 역할이 크게 부각되었는데 이는 명태조에게 天命이 있음을 강조하기 위한 것이다. 玉皇上帝의 예언, 元太祖와의 대결, 명태조 창업 설화 등의 서사는 ‘金華寺’ 계통에서는 보이지 않았던 내용인데, 이 계열 이본에 새롭게 추가되면서 天命이 명태조에게 있음을 명시적으로 드러내었다. 둘째, 원태조가 이끄는 오랑캐 연합군과의 전쟁 장면이 확대·부연되었는데, 이는 단순히 흥미를 끌기 위한 서사가 아니다. ‘금화사’ 계통에서는 秦始皇과 漢武帝의 군담만이 소략하게 기술되었으나, 대다수의 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열에서는 명태조를 내세워 완전하고도 통쾌한 승리를 거두는 결말을 마련함으로써, 오랑캐의 運이 다하고 中華가 회복되는 것이 천명이라는 점을 거듭 강조하였다. 이 외에 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열 이본들은 특정 인물을 부각하거나 인물에 대한 품평을 통해 필사자의 개인적 견해를 표출하기도 하였는데, 이는 필사자의 역사관 및 세계관이 적극적으로 반영된 결과라 하겠다.
이상과 같은 특성을 지닌 한문본 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열은 ‘금화사’ 계통 이본에 대한 비평적 인식을 바탕으로 생산, 유통되었다. ‘금화사’ 계통에 비해 명태조 천명론이나 中華意識이 더욱 강화된 데에는 여전히 중원을 차지하고 있는 淸나라의 존재와 明이 망한 이후 다양하게 변주되며 지속되었던 중화의식이 영향을 미친 것으로 보인다. 이처럼 ‘금산사창업연록’ 계열은 독자들이 ‘금화사’ 계통의 작품을 어떻게 읽고 수용하였으며, 시대적 요청에 어떻게 부응해 나갔는지를 보여준다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 아울러 국문본 ‘금산사창업연록’의 활발한 유통은 <금화사몽유록>의 대중적 인기 요인 및 향유층 확대를 증명하는 이본군이라는 점에서 이 계열 이본의 위상은 재조명되어야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This paper sheds light on the different versions' characteristics and status of the ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’(金山寺創業宴錄) lines, which were often excluded during discussions on the stylistic characteristics and thematic consciousness of the <Geumhwasamongyurok>(金華寺夢遊錄). Although the number of ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines have been small, the difference between different versions is very large, and there are many narratives that have been expanded and extended compared to the ‘Geumhwasaamongyurok’(金華寺夢遊錄) and ‘Geumhwasagi’(金華寺記) lines, so it was considered to be a unique version. However, additional copies belonging to ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines were recently discovered to provide a foundation for studying the characteristics and orientation of the lines, and as it is confirmed that this version has been translated into Korean and actively distributed, a reconsideration of its different versions' status is requested. Thus, this study sought to examine 12 different versions, research the aspect of changes and the meanings, and finally reveal the status of this lines of the works.
A summary of the different versions' properties and meanings of ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ written in Chinese is as follows. First, the role of the first king of Myeong(明太祖) in the work was greatly emphasized to emphasize that there was a God's will to the king of Myeong. As the contents such as the prophecy of the Jade Emperor, the confrontation with the first king of Won(元太祖), the tales of the founding of the first king of Myeong weren’t appeared in ‘Geumhwasa’ series, it was explicitly revealed that there was the God’s will in the first king of Myeong by newly adding in this line’s different versions. Second, the scene of the war against Orangkae(胡族) coalition led by The first king of Won has been expanded in various dimensions, which was not just an addition to the narrative for interest. As the military tales of the first king of Jin(秦始皇) and Han Mu-je(漢武帝) were appeared shortly in ‘Geumhwasa’ series, in most ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines through the conclusion that the first king of Myeong had done a complete and pleasant victory, the write emphasized that what the Orangkae's luck would be over and the consciousness of Chinese centered would be restored were the God’s will. Furthermore in ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines the writer actively expressed the writer's personal views on character reputation through a focus on special characters, which reflects the writer's individual sense of history and worldview.
The ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ written in Chinese which has characteristics as above, was produced and distributed based on critical perception of the different versions of ‘Geumhwasa’ series. Compared to the ‘Geumhwasa’ series, the theory of the logic that there was God’s will in the first king of Myeong dynasty and the strength of the consciousness of Chinese centered were further strengthened appears to have affected the existence of Cheong(淸) and the changed consciousness of Chinese centered which had continued to change in various ways since Myeong(明) collapsed. ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines shows how readers read, accept the works of ‘Geumhwasa’ series and respond to the requests of the times. In addition, the status of ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ lines should be re-examined in that the active distribution of ‘Geumsansachangeopyeonrok’ written in Korean proves the popularity factor of <Geumhwasamongyurok> and the expansion of readers.
