초록

Meng Liang Lu is composed of 20 Chapters by Wu Zimu of the Southern Song Dynasty. This book depicts the appearance of the Southern Song Dynasty’s Capital city Lin’an, or presently Hangzhou. The author, Wu Zimu, was a former citizen of Lin’an City, and little is known about his life. The title of ‘Meng Liang lu(夢粱錄)’ was taken from the tale of ‘Huang Liang Meng(黄粱夢)’, and Wu Zimu said in his book, “When I look back on the past, it was like a dream. I named it ‘Meng Liang lu’, that is, ‘recording the dreams I had while making millet rice’.” This book imitates the system of Dongjing Meng Hua Lu and records the palaces, mountains, people, streets, temples and schools in Lin’an. Accordingly, it provides a wealth of historical materials for understanding the economic activities, commercial development, cultural life of the city.
