중년 아들･딸의 노부모 돌봄실천의지에 규범적 헌신과 정서적 헌신이 미치는 영향 - 부양부담의 매개효과와 성별 및 종교유무의 조절효과 검증을 중심으로 - (The Correlates of the Middle aged Adult Children's Willingness to Perform Physical Care-giving Practices for their Elderly Parents-focused on the Mediating effect of the Burden of Care-giving, and the)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 중년 아들과 딸이 노부모 돌봄에 대한 ‘규범적 헌신’과 ‘정서적 헌신’이 돌봄실천의지에 미치는 직접효과와, ‘부양부담’의 매개효과(mediating effect) 그리고 ‘성별’ 및 ‘종교유무’의 조절효과(moderating)를 실증적으로 규명하는 데 있다. 자료 분석을 위해서 대구 및 경북지역의 6개 대학에 재학 중인 대학생의 부모들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실사하였다. 분석을 위해 사용된 최종표본은 775명(남성 318명, 여성 456명)이다.
자료 분석결과 주요 발견점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구모형에서 설정한 5개 경로(‘규범적 헌신➝돌봄실천의지’, ‘정서적 헌신➝돌봄실천의지’, ‘규범적 헌신➝부양부담감’, ‘정서적 헌신➝부양부담감’, ‘부양부담감➝돌봄실천의지’)중에서 ‘규범적 헌신➝부양부담’ 경로만을 제외한 나머지 4개 경로에서는 모두 유의미한 직접효과가 확인되었다. 둘째, ‘부양부담’은 돌봄에 대한 ‘정서적 헌신’이 ‘돌봄실천의지’에 미치는 영향에 매개역할을 하였지만, ‘규범적 헌신➝부양부담➝돌봄실천의지’ 경로에서는 ‘부양부담’은 매개역할을 하지 않는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 종교를 가진 응답자들에 비해, 종교를 가지지 않은 응답자들이 돌봄에 대한 ‘규범적 헌신’이 ‘돌봄실천의지’에 미치는 정적 직접효과가 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타나 ‘종교유무’의 조절효과가 입증되었다. 연구결과를 토대로 실천적 함의를 논의하였다.

영어초록

The paper presents a study on the middle aged adult male and female adult children's willingness to perform physical care-giving practices for their elderly parents who can not perform common day-to-day activities, and its correlates. The primary concerns of this study focus on:(1) the direct effects of individuals' normative and emotional commitment to physical care-giving on their willingness to provide such physical care-giving practices for their elderly parents; (2) the mediating effect of the burden of care-giving; (3) the moderating effect of the religious background between those who practice a religious faith and those who do not, The research is based on a survey conducted among 775 adult children aged in middle age, who have at least one living parent In order to conduct our research, a structural equation model(SEM)is explored by using AMOS program. First of all, we found four significant direct effects from 4 paths--‘normative commitment➝the willingness to provide physical caring practice’, ‘emotional commitment➝the willingness to provide physical caring practice’, ‘normative commitment➝the burden of care-giving’, ‘emotional commitment➝the willingness to provide physical caring practice’, burden of care-giving➝the willingness to provide physical caring practice’, however, we failed to find the direct effect of the normative commitment on the willingness to provide physical caring practice. Second, we found the significant mediating effect of the burden of care-giving from the path of ‘emotional commitment➝the burden of care-giving➝the willingness to provide physical caring practice’, however there is no significant mediating effect from the path of ‘normative commitment➝the burden of care-giving➝the willingness to provide physical caring practice’. We failed to find the moderating effect of gender and the religious background and affiliation. Some practical implications were suggested based upon the findings.
