유튜브 시대의 영상 이미지 시점에 대한 고찰: 영화 <파라노말 액티비티>와 <크로니클>을 중심으로 (A Study on the Point of View in Picture Images of the YouTube Times: Focusing on the Movie Paranormal Activity and Chronicle)

초록

This research aims to explain the problem of view point at the picture images of the YouTube times. Advancement in technical environment makes revolutionary change of the relations between main agents of visual recognition and picture images. This mechanism is very important analytical concept as the process which is composed main agents of visual recognition that indiscriminately accepts excessive picture images in recent years. ‘Point of view’ is one of very difficult and complex problems in narrative theory, creates rhetoric of esthetics and reading logic of picture. This study tries to make clear the theoretical relations between image aesthetics and view point. To begin with, this study examines various opinions on point of view critically in general narrative theory and film narratology. Reinterpreting some of the things, on various opinions about point of view, consequently affirms that point of view should be explained by the whole effect by the interaction among various points of view because a film has multiple ways of narration concurrently. The discussion on point of view should be understood in dynamic system in which a text changes and moves among various points or view, in infinite amount of representability of picture images.
The growth of technology and the popularity of social networking and video sites have changed the media landscape. Therefore, this study tried to analyse texts like Paranormal Activity and Chronicle. Many of the scenes are filmed in style of CCTV, digital camera, smart phone camera, mass media coverage, multimedia’s pictures. Paranormal Activity centers on a young couple, Katie and Micah, who are haunted by a supernatural presence in their home. It is presented in the style of found footage, from cameras set up by the couple in an attempt to document what is haunting them. The camera was almost always sitting on a tripod or something else. In deciding on a more raw and stationary format and eliminating the need for a camera crew, a higher degree of plausibility was created for the audience as they were more invested in the story and the characters. Chronicle, super hero origins movie being shot with a hand-held camera. This movie is visually presented as found footage filmed from the perspective of various video recording devices, primarily from a hand-held camcorder used by Andrew to document the events in his life. Both pointed out the salient features of the new reading logic of picture, non-viewpoint and non-aesthetics, artificialness. Especially, advancement in cultural environment makes revolutionary change of the relations between main agents of visual recognition and picture images. As shown in this study’s examples, consumers are voyeuristically bewildered by unidentified picture images. It is important for main agents of visual recognition to gain an insight into their point of view on unidentified picture images.
