理念葛藤의 해소에 관한 一考察 - 元曉의 和諍論法을 중심으로 - (The study on the solution to the doctrinal conflicts - Concentrated on the Wonhyo's Theory of Harmonization -)

초록

오늘날 사람들은 주위의 다른 여러 사람들과 여러 가지 갈등을 가지고 평화스럽게 살아가지 못하고 있다. 본고는 이와 같이 인류의 평화를 위협하는 여러 가지 갈등을 해소하기 위한 방안을 강구하는데 관심을 가지고 있다. 다만, 대상 범위를 여러 가지 갈등 중에서 ‘이념적 갈등’으로 제한하여 논의하였다.
이러한 인류의 이념적 갈등을 해소하려는 문제에 대하여 불교사상 중에서 ‘원효의 화쟁론’을 바탕으로 접근하였다. 원효의 화쟁론은 주장ㆍ논란ㆍ회통으로 구성되었고, 회통은 다시 주문ㆍ이유ㆍ문증으로 구성되었다. 그리고 원효는 제설에 대해서 5가지 유형으로 판정하였고, 각각의 유형에서 여러 가지 논법으로 회통하였다.
본고에서 주로 다룬 논법은 크게 3가지가 있다. 긍부자재의 논법에, ‘二邊집착의 과실’, ‘초월전제’, ‘一門설정’, ‘二門설정’이 있고, 유무자재의 논법에, ‘二邊집착의 과실’, ‘有無긍정’, ‘有無부정’이 있으며, 동이자재의 논법에, ‘동일과 상이의 자재’, ‘제기의 표면이유’, ‘제기의 심층이유’가 있다. 이러한 10가지 세부논법들을 인류의 이념갈등의 해소문제에 하나하나 적용하여 풀이해 보았다.

영어초록

Ordinary people live in various conflicts with other people and don't have peaceful lives. This paper has an interest in searching for solution to these conflicts which threaten the peace of mankind. And treats the matter on condition that the range of term of 'conflict' is reduced to 'doctrinal conflict'. Among the entire Buddhist theories, the matter of solution to doctrinal conflicts is approached by the Wonhyo's theory of harmonization.
The theory of harmonization was revealed by analyzing the cases of the harmonization in the his books. About the outline of the theory, we can say that the cases have the three parts which are the assertive part, the debating part, and the decisive part. And that the decisive part have the three small parts those are the principal clause, the causal clause, and the evidential clause. And about the method of theory, we can also say that he judges the cases in five ways, and reconciles the conflicts with the various methods.
In this paper, there are three methods. Firstly, the method of freedom of affirmation and negation has four detailed methods those are the error of attaching double extremities, transcendency as a premise, establishing single gate and establishing double gates. Secondly, the method of freedom of existence and nonexistence has three detailed methods those are the error of attaching double extremities, affirming existence and nonexistence and refusing existence and nonexistence. Thirdly, the method of freedom of sameness and difference has three detailed methods those are freedom of sameness and difference, external reason for raising the method and internal reason for raising the method. In most part of this paper, these ten detailed methods are applied to the matter of solution to the doctrinal conflicts.
