초록

1920년대 익산지역 사회운동은 사회주의 세력을 중심으로 추진되었다. 사회주의 사상은익산지역이 가지는 사회경제적 조건과 일제의 수탈이라는 지역적 특수성을 기반으로 1910년대 후반 지식인층을 중심으로 수용·확산되었다. 그중 임종환·임혁근 등이 사회주의 세력의 핵심인물들이었다. 이들은 1920년대 전반기 익산지역 각 부문운동 단체에서 다양한 문화계몽운동을 전개했다.
1920년대 중반 익산지역 사회운동은 변화와 변혁이 추진되었다. 임종환을 비롯한 익산지역 사회주의 세력이 이를 주도했다. 이들은 1922년을 기점으로 서울파와 연계되었고, 1924년 도 단위 사상단체 전북민중운동자동맹을 결성하여 익산지역을 비롯한 전북 일대 사회운동의 변화와 혁신을 주도해 나갔다. 1926년에는 조선공산당과 연계하여 각 부문운동을 합법적인 공간에서 지역의 운동지형에 맞추어 전개했다. 이들은 각 사회운동 단체의 변화와 결성을 주도적으로 이끌었으며, 사회운동 단체의 통합을 유도하여 익산지역 사회운동의 통일성과 효율성을 도모하였다.
이처럼 익산지역 사회주의 세력은 서울파와 조선공산당과 연계되어 중앙과 지역에서 중요한 역할을 담당했다. 이들의 활동은 익산과 전북지역 민중과 연대를 기반으로 지역에 사회주의를 뿌리내리게 했으며, 이후 전북지역에서 전개되는 민족협동전선인 신간회 지회 설치와 비밀결사운동이었던 ‘전북공산당 사건’과 ‘전북공산당재건사건’ 등이 일어날 수 있는 배경으로 작용하였다.

영어초록

The social movement in the Iksan region in the 1920's had been pushed ahead by being centered on the influence of the socialism. The socialist ideology had been accepted and spread by being centered on the intellectuals class in the latter half of the 1910's based on the socio-economic condition that the Iksan region has and the distinct, regional characteristic of the exploitation by the Japanese Empire. Among them, Rhim, Jong-hwan, Rhim, Hyeok-geun, etc. had been the core figures of the socialist influence. They had unfolded the diverse, cultural enlightenment movements in the movement organizations in each field in the Iksan region in the first half of the 1920's.
In the middle phase of the 1920's, regarding the social movement in the Iksan region, the changes and the revolutions had been pushed ahead. The socialist influence in the Iksan region, including Rhim, Jong-hwan, had led these. With the year 1922 as the starting point, they had been linked with the Seoul faction. And, in the year 1924, they had formed the Jeonbuk People Activists Alliance, which is an ideological organization in the unit of the province. And, by being centered on this, it had led the changes and the innovations of the social movement in the whole area of Jeonbuk, including the Iksan region. In the year 1926, by linking with the Joseon Communist Party, it had unfolded the movements in each field in the legal spaces by adjusting to the movement topographies of the region. They had endeavored for the organizational improvements of each social movement organization and, by inducing the integration of the social movement organizations, they had aimed at the unity and the efficiency of the social movement in the Iksan region.
In this way, by being linked with the Seoul faction and the Joseon Communist Party, the socialist influence in the Iksan region had played an important role in the center and the region. Such activities by these people had enrooted the socialism in the region based on the solidarity with the people in Iksan and the Jeonbuk region. And, afterwards, they had acted as the background in which the installation of the branch of the Shinganhoe, which had been the national cooperation front that had been unfolded in the Jeonbuk region, the 'Jeonbuk Communist Party Incident' and the 'Jeonbuk Communist Party Reconstruction Incident', which had been the secret, do-or-die spirit movements, etc. could take place.
