초록

본 연구의 목적은 이 점에 입각하여 장로회와 감리회의 공동선교를 통해 도쿄에 형성된 조선교회들의 발자취를 밝히면서 정리하는 것에 있다.
본 연구에서는 한일 기독교계의 신문·잡지, 회의록, 연감, 개인의 회고록 등을 자료로 삼으면서, 우선 선교기관의 변천과 도쿄의 조선인 인구 추이에 대해서 살펴본 후, 간다교회에 이어 설립된 제 교회들의 형성과 발자취 및 1930년대 중반의 분열 소동을 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구가 주로 대상으로 하는 기간은 두 번째 교회가 설립된 1920년대 후반부터 공동선교가 종료한 1930년대 후반까지로 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to explore and clarify the formation of Korean churches in Tokyo founded by joint-missionary work of Presbyterian and Methodist churches in Korea, from the late 1920s to the late 1930s when this joint-missionary work was came to the end. This study uses Christian newspapers and journals in Korea and Japan, minutes of Christian organizations such as the Korean National Christian Council, Christian yearbooks, and autobiographies as research materials. After reviewing the transition of mission organizations which took charge of missionary work for Koreans in Tokyo and the change of the Korean population in Tokyo, this article explores the formation of Korean churches. After the foundation of the first church, Kanda Church, in 1908, it took more than 20 years that the second church in Tokyo, Tsukishima Church, was established under the joint-missionary work in 1929. This church was founded with the help of Anglican missionaries. Including this church, it was eight churches( Tsukishima , Meguro , Zoshigaya , Hukagawa , Komagome , Ohji , Arakawa , and Shinagawa Churches) that were established from 1929 to the late 1938s. Out of these churches, two churches, Ohji and Arakawa Churches, are not the churches established by the joint-missionary work, but the churches formerly independent. In 1934, a denomination, “the Korean Christian Church in Japan,” was founded as a result of the joint-missionary work. At the same year, the disturbance was occurred in Kanda Church due to the difference in the opinion over the construction of its church building. It resulted in secession of three churches, Kanda , Hukagawa , and Komagome Churches, from the Korean Christian Church in Japan. Soon after this occurrence, the Korean Christian Church in Japan founded another church, Tokyo Central Church. This study insists that this church should be regarded as the one that was splitted away from Kanda Church. Out of these churches mentioned above, only four churches existed until the time of defeat of Japan in 1945. Those churches are Yoyogi (formerly Tokyo Central Church), Meguro , Zoshigaya , and Shinagawa Churches.
