우리나라 관광학 ESG 경영 연구동향과 방향: 2021년~2023년 KCI 등재지 학술논문을 중심으로 (Research Trends and Directions in ESG Management in Korean Tourism Studies: A Focus on KCI-Indexed Academic Papers from 2021 to 2023)

초록

본 연구는 국내 KCI(Korea Citation Index)에 등재된 호텔, 항공, 관광, 외식분야의 ESG(환경, 사회, 지배구조)경영과 관련된 선행연구 동향을 파악하기 위해 진행되었다. 2021년부터 2023년 6월까지 약 3년간 KCI에 등재된 학술지에서 게재된 국내 관광학 분야의 ESG 경영에 관련한 총 34편의 논문을 분석하였다. 이 논문들은 호텔분야 9편, 항공분야 9편, 외식분야 8편, 관광분야 8편으로 구분되었다. 연구분야, 게재연도, 학술지, 연구대상, 연구주제, 연구방법, 분석 시스템 및 방법, 연구 유효표본, 저자수, 연구변인으로 10가지 분석유목을 선정하여 관광학 분야의 ESG 경영 관련 연구동향을 상세히 파악하였다. 결과적으로, 2021년 이후 관광학 분야에서 ESG 경영 관련 연구가 증가하는 경향을 확인하였다. 특히, 고객을 대상으로 한 연구가 많았으며, 주로 호텔 및 리조트, 관광 및 전시 분야의 직원을 대상으로 한 연구도 두드러졌다. 연구방법은 대부분 양적연구로서 설문지를 활용한 자료 수집방법이 주로 사용되었지만, 빅데이터, 델파이, 2차 자료, 사례연구 등 다양한 방법도 활용되고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 연구변수로는 주로 ESG 경영이 독립변인으로, 행동의도가 종속변인, 그리고 브랜드 이미지가 매개 및 조절변인으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 본 연구는 관광학 분야에서의 ESG 경영 연구동향을 신속하게 파악하는 역할을 하였으며, 향후 연구방향과 중점 설정에도 유용한 정보를 제공하였다. 또한 학문과 산업 모두에서 ESG 경영에 대한 연구방법과 주제들이 계속해서 진화하고 발전하고 있음을 알 수 있어, 미래의 연구방향과 중점 설정에 중요한 정보로 작용할 것으로 기대된다. 이를 통해 관광학 분야의 학자들과 실무자들이 더 나은 미래를 위한 ESG 경영 관련 연구에 기여할 수 있도록 하고자 한다.

영어초록

This study aimed to examine the trends in prior research related to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) management in the fields of hotels, aviation, tourism, and dining, as indexed in the domestic KCI (Korea Citation Index). Over a period of approximately three years, from 2021 to June 2023, a total of 34 research papers on ESG management in the field of domestic tourism were analyzed from academic journals included in the KCI. These papers were categorized into four sectors: hotels (9 papers), aviation (9 papers), dining (8 papers), and general tourism (8 papers). Ten categories of analysis variables were selected, including research field and publication year, academic journal, research subjects, research topics, research methods, analysis systems and methods, effective sample size and number of authors, and research variables. This detailed analysis allowed for a comprehensive understanding of the trends in ESG management research in the field of tourism. The results revealed an increasing trend in ESG management-related research in the field of tourism, particularly after 2021. Notably, studies focusing on customers were prominent, with a significant emphasis on employees in the hotel and resort, tourism, and exhibition sectors. While the prevalent research method was quantitative, involving the utilization of surveys, various other methods such as big data analysis, Delphi studies, secondary data analysis, and case studies were also explored. Furthermore, the primary research variables comprised ESG management as the independent variable, behavioral intention as the dependent variable, and brand image as the mediating and moderating variable. These outcomes not only facilitated a rapid grasp of ESG management research trends in the field of tourism but also provided valuable insights for future research directions and emphases. Moreover, the ongoing evolution and advancement of research methods and topics related to ESG management in both academia and industry underscored the significance of these findings as pivotal guidelines for shaping future research directions. Through these insights, it is anticipated that scholars and practitioners in the field of tourism can contribute to enhanced research on ESG management, fostering a better future.
