초록

이 글은 90년대 잡지 기업문학 을 중심으로 기업-자본 영역이 문학 장르 안으로 들어왔던 당대 사회문화적 맥락과 조건을 살펴보고자 하였다. 또한 기업가의 존재와 삶의 양태를 구체화하고 세목화하여 재현하는 문학이 ‘기업문학’이란 이름으로 명명되고 문학의 새로운 장르로서 제안되었던 과정을 추적하고자 하였다. 1990년 “산업사회와 문학을 잇는 순수문학 격월간지”를 표방하며 창간된 <기업문학>은 당시 전경련 산하 경제사회개발원의 후원을 받고 있었던 기업문학협의회에 의해 발행되었다. <기업문학>은 문화 영역으로 후원의 방식으로 ‘침투하여’ 오는 ‘패트런 기업’의 영향력을 대게의 문예지들이 그러하듯 재정적 차원으로 국한해 잡지의 표면 ‘아래로’ 숨기는 방식이 아니라, 반대로 기업-자본의 영향력을 전면 수용하며 그 문학적 방향과 합일시키고 표면화시킨 잡지였다. 문학과 기업 간의 만남을 노골적으로 전면화했던 <기업문학>은 양자 간 교류의 논리를 문학적으로 개발하고 구현하고자 시도하였다. <기업문학>에서 읽을 수 있는 것은 비단 ‘시장 아닌 영역’으로 개입해 들어오는 기업-자본의 영향력만이 아니다. 한국 사회에서 기업-자본이 ‘시장 아닌 영역’을 시장화해가기 시작했던 초창기, 문학의 영역에서 기업-자본의 영향력을 수용하고 전유하고자 했던 시도 역시 읽을 수 있다.

영어초록

This study aims to examine the cultural landscape of the 1990s, focusing on the intersection of enterprise and literature, particularly through the lens of the magazine “Enterprise Literature”. In the early 1990s, “Enterprise Literature” was sponsored by the Economic and Social Development Institute under the Federation of Korean Industries and served as both the organ of the Corporate Culture Council and a literary journal. In the late 1980s, as the need for building relationships between enterprise and literature became evident from the enterprise side, “Enterprise Literature” can be seen as an unconventional attempt by some writers to incorporate enterprise-capital influence within the layers of literature. Unlike other literary journals that often concealed the influence of patron enterprises beneath the surface through financial sponsorship, “Enterprise Literature” overtly embraced and integrated the influence of enterprise and capital, aligning its literary direction with it. As the first and last publication in Korean literature to openly showcase the intersection between literature and enterprise, “Enterprise Literature” attempted to develop and implement a logic of exchange between the two realms, especially during a period when a new “logic of exchange” was evolving between economic figures and literary figures in Korean society since the early 1980s. This article particularly focuses on the period from the early 1980s when a new “logic of exchange” was developing between economic and literary figures in Korean society. Through “Enterprise Literature,” the emergence and establishment of ‘Enterprise Literature’ as a new genre within literature are observed. What can be gleaned from “Enterprise Literature,” is not limited to the influence of corporate capital infiltrating into the “non-market domain.” In the early stages of Korean society, when corporate capital began to commodify the “non-market domain,” one can also read attempts from the perspective of the “non-market domain” to accept and appropriate the influence of corporate capital.
