초록

본 논문은 문학텍스트는 그것이 생산되는 문학장의 다양한 맥락과 밀접한 관련이 있다고 보고, 1960~70년대 문학장에서 지속적으로 이루어졌던 최인훈 소설에 대한 논쟁적 지점과 최인훈의 소설 및 비평 사이의 상관성에 주목했다. 특히 1970년대 리얼리즘 논쟁을 추동한 1970년 『사상계』 4.19 기념 좌담과 관련된 당대 비평담론들을 살펴보고, 그에 대응하여 생산되는 최인훈 소설 및 희곡들을 문학적 반응의 측면에서 고찰하였다.
1970년을 전후로 한 『사상계』 문학특집란은 1960년대 한국문학을 결산하고 1970년대 한국문학의 가능성을 점검하는 계기로 마련되었는데, 이러한 비평의 맥락에서 최인훈과 그의 문학은 주요한 지점에서 호명되고 있다. 세대론적 전략으로 1960년대 작가를 우위에 두었던 4.19세대 비평가들에 의해 최인훈은 문학의 미학적 근거와 사회적 기능을 적극적으로 포섭한 중간세대 작가이자 한국문학의 가능성을 보여준 작가로 평가된다. 무엇보다도 최인훈 소설은 당시 리얼리즘 개념과 범위를 둘러싼 논쟁 속에서 중층적으로 독해됨으로써 당대 비평적 지형을 가늠할 표지로서 기능한다.
소설양식파괴에 대한 비판적 문제 제기에 대해서 최인훈은 희곡 양식을 전유하거나, 신문 등 각종 매체를 활용하는 한편, 허구와 사실을 횡단함으로써 소설양식의 한계치를 실험하는 등 자신의 문학텍스트를 통해 적극적으로 대응하고 있다. 이러한 일련의 궤적들은 최인훈 문학이 리얼리즘으로 대표되는 소설적 재현의 방식이나 특정방식으로 고착화된 문학 관습에 대해 끊임없이 저항했음을 방증하는 바, 당대 문학장과 최인훈 문학 사이의 관련성을 보다 미세하고 다양한 지점에서 논구함으로써 ‘최인훈과 그의 시대’를 조망하는 작업이 요청된다.

영어초록

With considering that a literary text is closely related to diverse contexts in a paragraph with its production, this study paid attention to the controversial point over Choi In-hun's novel, which had been continuously made in the literary field of the 1960s~1970s, and to a correlation between Choi In-hun's novel and review. Especially, the contemporary critical discourses were examined in relation to the April 19 anniversary discussion of Sasanggye(思想界) in 1970 that gave an impetus to the argument over realism in the 1970s. Choi In-hun's novels and plays, which are produced in accordance with it, were inquired in the aspect of a literary response.
Sasanggye(思想界) before and after the year in 1970 was arranged the space that settles the Korean literature in the 1960s and inspects possibility of the Korean literature in the 1970s. Choi In-hun and his literature are being called at a major point. Choi In-hun is evaluated as a writer in middle generation who positively embraced an aesthetic ground and a social function in literature, and as an author who showed probability of Korean literature, by critics in the April 19 generation that had given advantage to the writers in the 1960s with a generational strategy. Among others, Choi In-hun's novel is comprehended dually amidst a controversy surrounding a concept and a scope of realism in those days, thereby functioning as the cover that will weigh up a critical terrain at that time.
Choi In-hun is actively coping with this contemporary criticism through own literary text. In terms of what a critical issue is presented for the destruction in the novel form, Choi In-hun experimented the threshold value of the novel form through exclusively possessing the play form, through utilizing several media such as newspaper or through traversing a fiction and a fact. These series of tracks are giving circumstantial evidence to what Choi In-hun's literature continued to kick against a method of novelistic re-creation, which is represented as realism in the contemporary literary world, or against the fixed literary custom with a specific method.
