초록

The word "optimism" is the core of Ronald Reagan’s leadership. He has a firm belief about what he thinks is right, and it is surely accomplished. President, Reagan has two purposes. One is economic restoration, the other is world peace. These purposes are sure to be successful. Time is the only matter. It is not an accident but an necessity. Thus, Reagan accomplished these purposes. Those are based on the result of his optimism.
The aim of this paper is to see where is the origin of Ronald Reagan’ optimistic leadership. With respect to Reagan's leadership, many researchers, including Bonnie Angelo and Lou Cannon, made sure that his mother, Nell Wilson, was in the origin of Reagan’s optimism. This paper agrees with the established researchers.
Nell was born as an optimistic and positive person. She is a warm-hearted and generous woman. She always looks at the merits of another person. Even though her husband, Jack, is a poor and good-for-nothing fellow and poor, she doesn’t regard it as unhappiness. She took the great care that Reagan realized that his father’s alcoholism was a disease, because Reagan should not resent him. She wisely overcame difficulties of her poor financial situation through sewing, industry and thrift. If she lives in optimism and walk with God, she will firmly believe that these difficulties are not problems.
Nell eagerly wish her son, Reagan’ success. She thinks that learning is the best policy in a course to success. Thus, she educated Reagan to read at home. Though she did not hire tutors like rich person, she did everything in her power. She was delightful on Reagan’ graduation of high school and his entering university. For her, the university is like a certified check to give assurance for success.
Nell was poor, but she did volunteer for works to help more difficult person than she is. She regularly visited prisoners and tubercular patients and loved them like their mothers. Reagan was effected by her volunteering. This plant is a strong self-confidence in Reagan’s heart because he is not the lowest stratum of society, and he can also help other person.
Reagan thought that it was his job to cheer everyone up. His strong optimistic belief for the positive result, his courage not to discourage the poor, and his looking at the merits of everyone were valuable assets to be gained through his mother.
