초록

이 논문은 <이선달네 맏딸애기>의 서사적 전개에 개입하는 화자 목소리 변화를 통해 발견할 수 있는 상충되는 의식 간 균열이 노래의 진정한 의미를 살아나게 만드는 요인이자 미적 특질로 설명될 수 있다는 점을 입증하기 위해 작성되었다. <이선달네 맏딸애기>는 탈이념적 욕망을 긍정하는 핵심서사 ‘처녀저주형’을 중심으로 여러 가지 결말의 하위유형을 만들어내고 있는 노래로 다양한 화자의 목소리 개입과 변화가 발견되는 다성적 텍스트로서 이를 향유한 여성의식을 살피기에 적절한 노래이다.
<이선달네 맏딸애기>는 여성형 <상사뱀>과 같은 이야기처럼 구애에 실패한 여성이 상대 남성에게 원한을 품어 복수하는 내용(결핍-결핍 해소를 위한 시도－좌절－원한과 복수)으로 전개된다. 여성형<상사뱀>이 여성 주인공의 소극적 태도와 주변 인물들의 개입을 통해 이야기를 전개해나가는 반면 <이선달네 맏딸애기>는 적극적인 태도를 보인다. 여성 주인공이 남성에게 접근하는 구애의 장면부터 시작하여 구애의 실패 이후 저주하는 장면까지 거침없다. 그러나 ‘저승결합형’, ‘신부한탄형’, ‘복합형’과 같은 하위유형을 살펴보면 갑작스런 죽음 이후 이러한 목소리는 사라진다. 저주로 죽게 된 남성의 상황은 신부 목소리를 통해 말해지는 경우가 많다. 핵심서사에 등장했던 적극적이고 직설적인 여성과는 전혀 다른 목소리가 등장한다. ‘신부한탄형’에서는 신부가 주된 화자가 되어 탄식한다. ‘저승결합형’과 ‘복합형’에서는 또 다른 서술자가 개입하여 사후 결합을 통해 사랑을 이룬다는 이야기를 제시한다.
적극적인 구애, 직설적인 저주, 미련 없이 펼쳐나가는 복수의 서사적 전개는 <이선달네 맏딸애기>가 여성의 적극적이고도 자발적인 태도를 보여준다는 점에서 다른 이야기와 차별된다. 그러나 이런 양상을 보이는 ‘핵심서사’ 이후 펼쳐지는 신부 한탄이나 사후 결합은 앞선 전개와는 전혀 다른 이질적인 분위기를 환기한다. 구애하고 저주하는 화자 목소리가 사라지고 급작스런 남편의 죽음을 맞이하는 신부 목소리가 등장한다든지 죽음 이후 초현실적 만남을 통해 낭만적 결합을 제시하는 또 다른 서술자 목소리가 등장한다.
하나의 목소리가 아니라 여러 목소리로 조합되는 하위유형을 통해 <이선달네 맏딸애기>가 전하고자 했던 의미와 미적 특질을 발견할 수 있다. 탈이념적 지향과 육체적 욕망을 긍정했던 여성의식은 또 다른 피해자를 연민하지만 그러함에도 포기할 수 없었던 사랑에 대한 욕망을 가진다. 핵심서사에서 보이던 주인공 화자의 적극적 욕망과 거침없는 태도는 이후 상충되는 욕망 혹은 의식과 결합하면서 균열을 보이고 있다. 이러한 균열을 있는 그대로 읽고 해석하는 일이 <이선달네 맏딸애기>가 전하고자 했던 진정한 의미를 읽어내는 일이며 이를 통해 이 노래가 가지고 있는 미적 특질을 설명할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study was prepared in order to prove a point that the contradicted consciousness-based crack, which can be found through a change in voice of intervening in narrative development of <Lee Seon-dal Family’s Eldest Daughter Story>, is a factor of reviving true meaning of a song and can be explained with aesthetic characteristics. As <Lee Seon-dal Family’s Eldest Daughter Story> is a song of making sub-types in diverse conclusions focusing on ‘type of a maiden’s curse,’ which is the essential narration of affirming post-ideological desire, it is a song that is proper for examining female consciousness of enjoying this as the polyphonic text of being found intervention and a change in diverse voices.
<Lee Seon-dal Family's Eldest Daughter Story> is developed with the contents(deficiency-attempt for solving deficiency-frustration-grudge and revenge) that a woman of having failed in love-making avenges by bearing a grudge against a counterpart man, like a story of female pattern <Sangsa Snake>. The female pattern <Sangsa Snake> shows passive attitude of proceeding with developing a story through the surrounding characters’ intervention along with the heroine’s passive attitude. On the other hand, <Lee Seon-dal Family's Eldest Daughter Story> shows positive attitude. The heroine is inexorable beginning from the love-making scene of approaching a man to the scene of cursing after failure in love-making. However, examining sub-types like ‘type of union with the world beyond,’ ‘type of a bride’s lamentation,’ and ‘compound type,’ this voice disappears after sudden death. There are many cases that a situation of a man who came to be dead by curse is mentioned through a bride’s voice. Voice appears, which is completely different from positive and hard-hitting woman who had appeared in the essential narration. In ‘type of a bride’s lamentation,’ a bride becomes the main speaker, thereby lamenting. In ‘type of union with the world beyond’ and ‘compound type,’ another narrator intervenes, thereby suggesting a story as saying of making love through post-union.
The narrative development in positive love-making, blunt curse, and revenge of proceeding with being spread without lingering attachment is differentiated from other stories in a sense of which <Lee Seon-dal Family’s Eldest Daughter Story> shows a woman’s subjective and voluntary behavior and attitude. However, a bride’s lamentation, which is spread following ‘essential narration’ of showing this progression, arouses heterogeneous atmosphere, which is entirely different from the above development. As the heroine’s voice of love-making and curse disappears, the voice of bride, who faces husband’s sudden death, appears. Also, another narrator’s voice appears, which suggests happy conclusion through a surrealistic meeting after death.
Through these sub-types that are developed with many voices, not one voice, the meaning and aesthetic characteristics that <Lee Seon-dal Family’s Eldest Daughter Story> aimed to deliver could be found. Female consciousness, which had affirmed post-ideological orientation and physical desire, sympathizes with another victim, but was having a desire for love, which couldn’t be abandoned nevertheless. Desire or consciousness different from voluntary consciousness, which had been shown in the essential narration, is proceeding with weaving a desire and consciousness, which are contradicted with passing through a situation of performance in a song, with one song. Analyzing with literally reading this crack is what reads true meaning that <Lee Seon-dal Family’s Eldest Daughter Story> aimed to deliver and is a way of taking one-step further to aesthetic characteristics of a song.
