초록

생태주의적 관점은 20세기 중반 이후 신학적 논의를 이끌어온 핵심적인 요인들 가운데 하나라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 생태신학은 인간에 의해 자행된 광범위한 생태계 파괴의 현실에 직면하여 이를 극복하기 위한 방안으로 ‘생태중심주의’ 혹은 ‘세계중심주의’를 주창하면서 전통적인 ‘인간중심주의’를 극복하고자 한다. 생태신학은 인간중심주의의 이론적 토대가 되었던 것으로 여겨지는 전통적인 영혼- 신체-이원론 혹은 정신-물질-이원론을 비판하면서 자연에 대한 인간의 의존성 혹은 자연과 인간의 유사성을 강조한다. 이러한 생태주의적 인간론의 전략은 ‘인간의 자연화’라는 개념으로 정리될 수 있다. 하지만 이러한 시도는 자칫하면 자연에 대한 인간의 구별성과 차이를 제거할 뿐만 아니라 인간의 존엄성과 자유 같은 인간의 특수성을 제거할 위험성을 그 안에 내포하고 있는 것도 사실이다. 이에 본연구에서는 판넨베르크의 『조직신학』의 창조론과 인간론을 검토하는 가운데 자연과 인간의 연속성과 유사성을 이야기하면서도 동시에 자유와 같은 인간의 고유한 특징을 담보할 수 있는 방안이 무엇인지를 탐색한다. 자연의 역사와 인간의 출현 그리고 개별 인간의 자기 의식과 자율적 실천 등에 이르는 일련의 과정을 아들과 영의 지속적인 창조 활동의 결과로서 해석해내는 판넨베르크의 사상을 살펴봄으로써 자연과 인간의 유사성과 차이를 균형 있게 이야기할 수 있는신학적 방안에 대한 전망을 얻을 수 있게 될 것이다.

영어초록

One of the most important theological claim since the mid-20th century is the ecological one. Facing the catastrophic ecological crisis caused through massive destruction and exploi tation of nature by humans, ecological theology tries to over come the traditional ‘anthropocentricism’ while replacing it through ‘eco-centiricism’ sive ‘physico-centricism.’ To this end, ecological theology generally tends to emphasize similarities of humans with or their dependence on nature while criticizing mind-body-dualism or spirit-matter-dualism as theoretical pre supposition of anthropocentricism. The so-called ‘naturalization of humans’-strategy of ecological theology, however, shares the same theoretical weakness with scientific reductionist natu ralism: freedom, for example, the most important characteristic of humans can be even denied, or might be reduced to the function of smallest material entities which might be regarded as constituent of human nature.
This paper explores ‘doctrine of Creation’ and ‘anthropo logy’ of W. Pannenberg’s Systematic Theology and seeks the theological way to talk about human freedom to nature without denying human dependence on it. According to Pannenberg, humans are, on the one hand, in continuity with other creatures in the sense that they all are products of creating action of the Son and the Spirit. But humans as imago dei are, on the other hand, differentiated from other creatures in terms of their being representative who helps the whole creature take part in the Trinitarian communion of Father, Son and the Spirit. It will be argued that the emphasis on human independence and their difference from other creatures never leads to the exploitation of nature, but rather demands responsible action on the basis of human freedom in front of the Creator and His creature.
