배치기소리의 교육적 활용 가치 －초·중·고 교과서 내 서도 민요 제재곡 개발과 관련하여－ (Educational Practical Use of Baechigi Sori, a Fishing Song－In relation to development of the pieces of Northwestern folk song of Korea included in elementary, junior high and high school textbooks－)

초록

민요는 우리 선조들의 삶을 고스란히 보여주고 있어, 매우 다양한 측면에서의 교육적인 접근이 가능하고, 그 효과 또한 매우 크다. 때문에 초·중·고등학교 음악 수업에서 국악 가창은 대게 민요를 중심으로 이루어진다. 그러나 교과서에 수록된 민요 곡목을 조사하면, 향토민요 보다는 통속민요가 대다수를 차지하고 있고, 지역별로는 경기․남도․동부 민요에 편중되어 있다.
현재 초·중·고등학교 음악 교과서에 수록된 서도 민요는 매우 소략하여, <금다래꿍>, <싸름>, <해주아리랑>, <몽금포타령>, <자진배따라기>, <수심가>, <엮음수심가>, <풍구타령>, <봉죽타령> 정도이다. 이 중 <자진배따라기>, <수심가>, <엮음수심가>, <풍구타령>, <봉죽타령>은 일부 한두 교과서에만 제재곡으로 수록되어 있어, 서도 민요로서 가창 교육이 이루어지는 주요 곡목은 초등 과정의 <금다래꿍>과 중․고등 과정의 <싸름>, <해주아리랑>, <몽금포타령> 네 곡이라 할 수 있다. 그러나 교과서 내 서도 민요 토리에 대해 수심가토리만 지도가 이루어지고 있는 것에 반하여, 정작 <해주아리랑>과 <몽금포타령>은 반수심가토리 구조로 선율이 이루어지고, <금다래꿍>은 경토리 음구조로 채보되어 있다는 문제점을 안고 있다.
초·중·고 교과서 내 서도 민요 제재곡 확대를 위해, 서해안 지역의 대표적인 어업노동요인 배치기소리를 살펴보고자 한다. 배치기소리는 풍어를 기원하면서 부르는 소리이자, 고기를 다 잡고 돌아오면서 혹은 도착하여 만선의 흥겨움을 노래하는 소리이다. 이 소리는 황해도 지역이 원 소리 고장이되, 조기잡이 어장을 따라 평안도에서부터 전라남도 진도에 이르는 넓은 지역에 퍼져있다. 황해도지역이 원 소리 고장인 만큼 배치기소리는 대부분 수심가토리 및 반수심가토리로 선율이 구성된다. 수심가토리는 현재도 학교 교육 현장에서 지도하고 있는 내용과 같이, re․mi․sol․la․do' 다섯 음으로 구성되며, re․la․do' 세 음이 주요음으로 5도+3도의 선율 골격을 지닌다. 서도 특유의 요성은 la음에 붙고, do'는 끝을 살짝 퇴성한다. 반수심가토리는 난봉가토리라고도 하는데, La․do․re․mi․sol 다섯 음으로 구성되며, La․do․mi 세 음이 주요음으로 3도+3도의 음정 간격으로 주 선율이 진행한다. 서도 지역 특유의 콧소리로 탈탈 떠는 요성은 mi음에 등장한다. 배치기소리는 수심가토리 악곡과 반수심가토리 악곡이 모두 존재하며, 서도 지역 음악 어법의 전형을 매우 잘 보여준다. 또한 대체로 3소박 4박자 굿거리장단의 일정한 박자를 가지며, 메기는소리와 받는소리는 일정한 선율이 반복적으로 사용되는 경향을 띠고 있어, 가창 지도에 큰 어려움이 없다.
배치기소리를 제재곡으로 하여 학생들을 지도함에 있어 활용될 수 있는 교육 내용으로는, 사설(노랫말)과 관련하여 ① 서해안의 조기 어장 및 조업 방법, ② 조기잡이 신이자 서해안 풍어제의 신격인 임경업 장군, ③ 만선을 자축하는 축제에 대한 교육이 가능하다. 음악과 관련해서는 우선적으로 서도 지역 음악어법인 수심가토리와 반수심가토리에 대한 지도와, 배치기소리가 풍물을 반주로 하는 점에서 굿거리 풍물 가락에 대한 지도가 이루어질 수 있다. 마지막으로 놀이 및 제의와 관련하여 서해안 풍어제인 배연신굿 및 대동굿, 봉죽놀이와 연결되는데, 이를 통해서는 우리 선조들의 오랜 신앙과 염원, 그리고 그 안에 담긴 축제적 성격을 이해할 수 있다.
교과서 내에 수록된 서도 민요는 곡목의 수가 매우 소략할 뿐만 아니라, 가창 이외에 놀이와의 결합이나 이야깃거리 부분에서 취약하였다. 배치기소리는 그런 점에서 교육적 활용 가치가 높다.

영어초록

Among the folk song pieces included in the music textbooks of elementary, junior high and high schools, there are a considerably small number of Northwestern folk songs of Korea compared to other areas. As alienation in curriculum leads to general public, it is necessary to develop the Northwestern folk song pieces and expand them in textbooks.
The Northwestern folk songs contained in the music textbooks of elementary, junior high, and high schools include <Geumdaraekkung>, <Ssarum>, <Haeju Arirang>, <Monggeumpotaryong>, <Jajinbaettaragi>, <Susimga>, <Yeokum-susimga>. <Punggutaryong> and <Bongjuktaryong>. Among them, <Jajinbaettaragi>, <Susimga>, <Yeokum-susimga>, <Punggutaryong> and <Bongjuktaryong> are included in a couple of textbooks, and <Susimga> is carried away by appreciation rather than singing. That is, the pieces of Northwestern folk song with the education for singinginclude <Geumdaraekkung>, <Ssarum>, <Haeju Arirang>, and <Monggeumpotaryong>. Also, for tori of Northwestern foik song, only Susimga-tori is taught, but <Haeju Arirang> and <Monggeumpotaryong> are actually made up of the melody of Bansusimga-tori and <Geumdaraekkung> is composed of the Gyong-tori scale. Therefore, development of the Northwestern folk song repertoire composed of typical Susimga-tori is urgently needed, on the one hand, and both types of Susimga-tori and Bansusimga-tori should be taught for tori of Northwestern folk song, on the other.
To expand the pieces of Northwestern folk song in elementary, junior high, and high school textbooks, Baechigi Sori, the representative fishery song of the west coast provinceis suggested. Baechigi Sori is a song which is sung to wish for a good catch as well as cheerfully sung celebrating a full load of fish in the middle of returning or after arriving. This song has been originated from Hwanghae-do Province but spread out over a wide area from Pyeongan-do Province to Jindo, Jeollanam-do Province.
The melody of Baechigi Sori is mainly composed of Susimga-tori and Bansusimga-tori, as it has Hwanghae-do as its root. Susimga-tori, as now being taught in the class, is composed of five notes including Re, Mi, Sol, La and Do’ and the key notes are Re, La and Do’. The framework of melody is made up of diapente and tierce. A twangy tone unique to the Northwestern province appears in La and the ending of Do’ comes down slightly. Bansusimga-tori, or Nanbongga-tori is composed of five notes including La, Do, Re, Mi and Sol and the key notes are La, Do and Mi. The framework of melody is made up of tierce and tierce. A twangy tone which is unique to the Northwestern province appears in Mi. Having both pieces of Susimga-tori and Bansusimga-tori, Baechigi Sori is a model of the musical language of the Northwestern province. Also, all pieces are based on a constant rhythm of Gutgeori of 4/ beat and have the melody repeating continously so there is no difficulty in teaching of singing.
On the side of lyrics, the contents of education available in teaching students with the musical piece of Baechigisori can be summarized as corvina fishery in the west coast, how to fish corvina, General Im Kyong-up, a god of fishing corvina and big catch ritual in west coast province, and a festival celebrating a full load of fish. On the side of contents, teaching for Susimga-tori and Bansusimga-tori, musical language of the Northwestern province, and teaching for Gutgeori Pungmul tune are available in that Baechigi Sori has accompaniment of Pungmul. Lastly, on the side of play and ritual, Baeyeonsingut, Daedonggut and Bongjuknori, big catch ritual in the west coast province, are connected and they should help us to understand our ancestors’ long faith, aspiration and the implicit festive nature.
The pieces of Northwestern folk song of Korea contained in elementary, junior high, and high school textbooks are not only small in number but also poor in the combination with play or subjects to talk about, besides singing. In those regards, Baechigi Sori has high educational value.
