초록

China’s attitudes based on the cultural nationalism play two roles. It sutures the conflicts between Han Ethnic and Non-Han Ethnic, while it also plays a role as an ideological instrument to integrate various kinds of social complications arisen in China.
Thus, this paper studies the film “Tale of the sacred mountain” so as to identify specific aspects of Chinese government’s Non-Han Ethic policy and cultural nationalism.
In terms of the “Tale of the sacred mountain”, it demonstrated the spirit of Tibetan people against the imperialism of Great Britain by implementing the romance plot structure. In this case,the director Feng’s pathos based on the unity of Chinese nation plays a role of the main discipline to control the narrative structure throughout the film. Therefore, even the ethnoscape of their unique life styles around the Tibet area tends to be seen under the interference of the order of ranks and assimilation policy of China. Additionally, two aspects of Orientalism as well as Occidentalism could be shown in the descriptions on the British.
This plot which is putting the current attitudes of recent Chinese government into the position of the Tibet in 100 years ago seems not released from the power relations. This discourse of historians shows the metahistory as well as connotes the reason to utilize its narrative structure due to the cultural nationalism. This plot also demonstrates the process of organizing the Tibetan people into The Other from a view of Han Ethnic.
That is, the orientalism in the cognition of the Tibet would disclose the imperialistic attitudes of China are still working silently in the non-han ethic policy of the Chinese government.
