루터와 칼빈이 본 예수말씀의 연구방법, 요한복음, 그리고 부활에 관한 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of Methodologies to the Jesus Sayings, The Gospel of John, and the Resurrection by Luther and Calvin)

초록

본 연구는 갈릴리에서 전승된 마태복음과 누가복음의 공통자료(Q)인 예수말씀을 루터와 칼빈이 어떻게 이해하고 있는지를 비교 분석하기 위한 목적으로 첫째, 복음서의 종류, 요한복음, 유대교와의 관련성 문제 등과, 둘째, 역사적 사실과 해석된 역사, 상징이냐 실재냐?, 부활신앙 등의 주제로 나누어서 그들이 관심을 기울였던 복음서에 대한 연구 방법을 살펴보고자 한다. 이런 연구는, 루터에 의해 하나의 복음을 복음서 기자들이 각각 기록하였다는 이해와, 칼빈에 의한 공관복음서의 공통된 자료에 근거하여 철저하게 비교 분석한 이해로, 아주 흥미로울 정도로 루터와 칼빈이 서로 대조적인 관점을 가지고 있다는데 그 초점을 두고 있다.
물론 이런 루터와 칼빈의 복음서 연구는 오늘날의 역사비평적 성서 읽기와는 거리가 멀다. 그렇지만 종교개혁자들이 ‘오직 성경’의 기치를 개혁신학의 원리로 중시하고 있다는 사실을 강조하는 본 연구는 루터와 칼빈이 논증하는 그리스도의 죽음과 부활에 관심을 기울이면서 ‘교황주의자들’이 교회의 교리로 성례를 화체설로 이해한 것을 바로 잡기 위해서 지금까지 조직신학적인 연구가 주도하였다는 점을 감안할 때, 개혁신앙의 핵심인 예수말씀의 가르침을 담고 있는 공관복음서와 요한복음에 관한 그들의 적극적인 연구에 더욱 많은 연구가 집중되기를 바라는 마음에서 향후 루터와 칼빈에 관한 새로운 연구의 방향을 더 구체적으로 잡아야 할 것을 제안하고자 한다.
지면 관계상 자세히 다루지 못하는 아쉬움이 있기에, 독자들은 본 연구의 제언을 따라 좀 더 관심 있는 내용을 세부적으로 심도 있게 연구하면 좋을 듯하다. 특별히 이 연구는, 종교개혁의 양대 산맥인 루터가 복음을 하나로 보는 관점과, 또한 이 문제와 관련하여 칼빈이 복음서 연구를 예수말씀 복음서 Q로 출발하는 관점에서 두드러진 차이가 있다는 사실을 논증한 점에서 나름대로 공헌점이 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this research is to compare and analyze how Martin Luther and John Calvin understood Jesus’ sayings, which is part of the common material (Q) found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. First, different types of Gospels, the Gospel of John, and the connection with Judaism, etc. Second, historical facts and historical interpretation, whether it is a symbol or an existence. By laying out different themes such as resurrection faith, I examine the research method of the Gospels that they paid attention to. This research focuses on how Luther and Calvin have contrasting viewpoints. Luther understands that the authors of each Gospel took one source and transcribed each of their Gospels respectively. Interestingly enough, Calvin’s understanding bases on the comparative analysis of the common material of the Synoptic Gospels.
Of course Luther and Calvin’s research on the Gospels may not be optimal for historical critical scripture reading of the present time. However, this research emphasizes the fact that the reformers consider the value of ‘Sola Scriptura’ as one of the principles of Reformed Theology. By focusing on how Luther and Calvin proves the death and resurrection of Christ, and by correcting the understanding of ‘vaticanism’, in how they understood the sacrament of the doctrine of the church as transubstantiation. For the correction, until this day, given that systematic theological research has taken the initiative, I hope that there will be more studies concentrated on the reformers’ active research of the Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John containing the teachings of Jesus’ Sayings, being the bottom line of Reformed faith. I suggest that there needs to be a concrete direction of a new study of Luther and Calvin.
Due to lack of space, I regret that I will not cover in detail, it will likely prove to be good if readers follow the suggestion of this research and specifically conduct a research in depth with a particularly interesting content. Especially this research makes a great contribution in that it looks at two prominent reformation leaders, Luther and Calvin. By demonstrating how Luther looks at the Gospels as a single unit. Moreover, relating with this issue, by proving how Calvin researches the Gospels by starting from Jesus’ Sayings, the Jesus Sayings Gospel Q, this study reveals significant difference between the two figures.
