사설시조에 드러난 일상성 담론과 미학, 그리고 근대 (A study on the Aspects of Ordinariness Discourse in Saseolsijo and its Modernity)

초록

이 연구는 사설시조에 드러나는 일상성 담론의 양상과 그것의 미학적 특징을 통해 사설시조 연구의 최대 난제 중 하나인 근대적 함의를 밝혀보고자 한 것이다. 특히 일상성 담론에서 중요한 위치를 차지하지만 그간 크게 주목받지 못했던 ‘환상성’을 ‘현실성’과 함께 고려하면서 사설시조가 보여주는 일상성 담론의 구체적인 면면들을 살펴보고자 하였다.
그 결과 사설시조의 일상성 담론은 크게 3가지 형태로 드러나는데, ①언어 기호의 해체 ②주변부 담론의 복원 ③역사성과의 역학적 관련성 등이 바로 그것이다. ①은 실제와 상상(환상) 간의 경계가 해체된 상상적인 실제 혹은 실제적 상상의 공간 속에서 반세계 창출을 통해 일상의 모순을 드러내고, ②는 환상성 없이 현실성 속에서 중심부의 담론을 해체하는 주변부 담론의 복원을 통해 일상성을 드러내는데, 여기에는 여성, 아이, 일상어, 욕 등이 있으며 이 중 여성과 아이는 일상들을 해체하는 근대의 타자들이자 주변부 타자들로서 남성/어른에 대한 대항 담론으로서의 의미를 지니고 있다. ③은 ‘현재’의 일상성이 주로 ‘과거’의 거대한 역사적 사건 속에서 의미 없는 배경으로 물러나 파괴된 일상에 대한 비판적인 담론 형태를 보이기도 하고, 반대로 역사성을 일상성의 보조 수단으로 활용하면서 대중적, 유희적인 담론 형태를 보여주기도 하는 것이 특징이다.
사설시조가 보여준 이러한 일상성의 담론은 시적 화자의 분열된 시선 및 거리화 담론과 희비극적 미감 속에서 근대적 의미를 선명히 한다. 일상성을 담아내는 사설시조에서 시적화자는 대체로 일상의 경험자이자 관찰자로서, 묘사와 서술 기법을 통해 차근차근 들려주는 전달 방식 속에서 리얼리즘의 전형성을 확보하기도 하고 서정성의 통어에서 벗어나 타자의 담론, 서사성의 영역 확보라는 장르적 성격을 단적으로 보여주기도 한다. 이 과정에서 근대 이행기 소외된 개인의 모습을 드러내기도 하고, 현실적 삶에서 오는 괴로움을 놀이와 뒤틀림으로 풀어내고자 한 민중들의 건전한 소망, 낙관주의적인 세계관을 희비극성을 통해 제시하기도 한다. 이러한 사설시조의 일상성 담론은 중세의 균열을 드러내는 동시에 근대를 향한 미세한 움직임을 보여준 것이라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

The aim of this study is to discover the aspects of ordinariness discourse in Saseolsijo and its aesthetical meaning & modern implications, especially considering fantasy, which is very important part with 'reality' but unfortunately has been always alienated from the whole of this area.
First, in Saseolsijo, three major aspects of ordinariness are discovered. One way is just that, revealing contradictions of everyday life through 'overturned reality', 'The creation of upside-downed world' in space of 'imaginary reality' or 'real imagination', which boundaries between 'the real' and 'the imaginary' are dismantled.
Another way is revealing everyday life through restoring the periphery of the discourse which disassembles the center of discourse, without fantastic world, only in reality. These include women, children, everyday language, baths, etc., in which the women and children are significant as the Others of modernity and the characters of periphery which dismiss ordinariness in the heart of the pre-modern. The other way is that everyday life in Saseolsijo appears in relation with historicity. Largely ordinariness shows the negative and critical discourse about destroyed ordinariness, being retreated into meaningless background in massive historical events or it shows public and playful discourse by controlling the historicity strongly or using historicity as secondary means of everday life. These ordinariness such as the dissolution of language symbols, the subversion of the centric discourse, the negation of present life, etc. clearly reveals modern implications in divided gaze of the poetic narrator, the distant discourse, tragicomedy.
All Saseolsijo don't have these features but usually the poetic narrator as an experiencer and observer of ordinariness has a crucial roll in obtaining typicality of realism with description and narrative techniques in the form of speaking. In addition, this study discovered that the poetic narrator's way of speaking on ordinariness shows the discourse of the other, expanding the realm of narrativity in Saseolsijo. In this process, wandering strollers, marginalized individuals are often discovered from the text and people's wish or optimism which people wants to solve the bitterness from real life as play and distortion as well, as the type of 'tragicomedy'. These mean ordinariness in Saseolsijo have cracks in the medieval and slightly movement towards the modern society at the same time.
