경남 남해안 일대倭系石室 被葬者의 성격과 역할 (The character and role of person buried in Stone-chamber of Wae’s style in the region of the southern coast of Gyeongnam in Korea)

초록

6세기 경남 남해안 일대에는 倭系石室이 축조되기 시작한다. 이에 그 축조배경과 피장자 출신 등에 관한 연구가 진행되었으나 실제 倭系石室이 축조된 경남 남해안일대와 그 주변지역의 재지고분과의 관계에 관한 논의는 충분히 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본고에서는 倭系石室과 재지고분의 기본 구조를 비교하는데 주안점을 두었고, 석실내부에서 베풀어진 매장관념과 고분군 형성 문제를 분석하여 총 4가지 유형으로 분류하였다. 이에 A유형과 B유형은 재지고분과 관계있는 것으로 보았고, C유형과 D유형은 日本 九州지역 고분과 관계된 것으로 보았다. 이러한 유형들은 시간 흐름에 따른 어떤 변화나 전개양상을 강하게 나타내는 것 보다는 각 유형에 속한 고분 축조 집단과 인물의 성격과 역할을 반영한 결과로 파악하였다.
이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 경남 남해안 일대 倭系石室 피장자의 역할을 다음과 같이 설정하였다. 고성 송학동1B-1호분의 피장자는 남해안 일대 대외교역의 주도권을행사한 고성지역 최고수장으로 보았고, 의령 경산리1호분의 피장자는 대가야와 관계된 대외교류 활동에 종사하면서 새로이 등장한 집단의 수장으로 보았다. 의령 운곡리1 호분과 사천 향촌동Ⅱ-1호분의 피장자는 日本 九州지역 有明海연안 출신의 인물로 보았고, 水系를 통한 교역 활동에 종사하여 가야 멸망 이후까지 지속된 집단으로 평가하였다. 거제 장목고분과 사천 선진리고분의 피장자는 日本 北部九州지역 출신의 인물로보았고, 당시 가야-倭 교류의 교두보적인 역할을 수행함과 동시에 광범위한 업무를 수행한 인물로 평가하였다.

영어초록

In Gaya, Stone-chamber of Wae’s style began to be built in 6C. Research about the background of acceptance of Stone-chamber, character of buried person and political relations has been studied on the basis of archeological analysis. However, Research about the relation between Stone-chamber of Wae’s style and local tombs of region where stonechambers of Wae’s style were built and sustainability of stone-chamber of Wae’s style which was built in single-construction have not been fully handled.
This paper focuses on analyzing similarity between local tomb and stone-chamber of Wae’s style while removing Wae’s elements that identify stone-chamber of Wae’s style and examines it while dividing the relation between Stone-chamber of Wae’s style and local tombs into three types. First type is tombs that people based on native power built. Second type is sustainable-building tombs that Japanese residents built in the relation with native power. Third type is tombs that Japanese residents built in the short term. These types doesn’t indicate any changes and development aspects with time but is affected by group who belong to the respective type.
On the basis of the results of the analysis, this paper intended to figure out the character and the role of buried person in stone-chamber of Wae’s style. First of all, this paper tried to analyze it broadly with three types and imbued the role and the position of buried person with significance. On this, it was presumed that person buried in Gyeongsanri No.1 tomb of first type belonged to group engaged in the interior trade and Songhakdong No.1B-1 tomb of first type belonged to the ruling class of So-Gaya on engaged in trade, person buried in Ungok-ri No.1 tomb of second type belonged to Japanese resident’s group related to Dae-Gaya and Hyangchon-dong No.Ⅱ-1 of second type belonged to Japanese resident’s group related to So-Gaya, people buried in Jangmok tombs of third type belonged to Japanese residents who guided on Gaya area and play a role as the half-way station and Seonjin-ri tombs of third type belonged to Japanese residents engaged in trade and warehouse in Gaya area. In conclusion, it was confirmed that Japanese residents buried in s stone-chamber of Wae’s style moved to region of Gaya with certain purpose and tasks and it affected the aspects of tombs. For the rest, Wae’s elements seem to be reflected by political roles of local residents and the extent of trade.
