인문계고등학교 특수학급의 학생문화 연구 (A Study on the Student Culture of Special Class at Urban Academic High School)

초록

이 연구는 문화기술적 연구방법을 활용하여 인문계 고등학교 특수학급의 학생문화에 대한 심층적 이해를 통하여 그들이 특수학급 학생으로서의 자신들의 삶을 어떻게 인식하고 있는가를 알아보고자 하였다. 이 연구의 참여자는 주 참여자인 고등학교 특수학급 남학생 3명과 통합학급 담임교사 등 보조 참여자 6명이다. 자료의 수집은 2010년 2월에서 2010년 9월까지 참여관찰과 심층면담을 통하여 수집 되었으며, 수집된 자료는 전사, 코딩의 과정을 거쳐 질적 연구방법인 영역분석과 분류분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
특수학급 학생 간의 문화주제는 ‘그럼에도 불구하고 사소한 희망을 꿈꾸는 사람들’이다. 특수학급 학생 사이에는 ‘소외와 결핍’이라는 공통된 정서로 인한 친밀한 애착관계가 형성되어 있었고, 성(性)과 미디어를 매개로 한 그들 사이의 위계구조도 형성되어 있었다. 또한 일반학생과 특수학급 학생 간에는 ‘서로 다른 곳을 바라보는 사람들’이라는 문화주제가 형성되었으며, 그들 사이에 우정을 나눌 수 있는 정서적 유대감은 형성되지 않고 있었다. 통합교육의 목적이 교육을 통한 서로에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 함께 사는 사회를 만들어 가는데 있다고 본다면, 장애학생들에 대한 물리적인 통합이나 제도적 지원과 함께 일반학생들을 대상으로 한 ‘함께 사는 세상’에 대한 인식을 고취시킬 수 있는 교육이 병행되어야 하며, 무엇보다도 일반학생과 장애학생의 상생(相生)을 지향하는 학교나 사회의 재구조화를 통한 분위기 조성의 필요성이 제기된다.

영어초록

This study investigated the culture of students at special class at the academic high school with ethnographic research method and also examined deeply how they recognized their life as a student of special class There are nine participants in this study including three male student from special class and six teachers who are charge of the integrated class. The domain analysis and classification analysis were used for this qualitative research. The study employed participant observation and in-depth interview methods from February, 2011 to September, 2011. The transcription was used for data collection, and then it coded. The results of the study are as follows.Second, another cultural theme in regard to communication mechanism among peers in the special class was ‘people who are looking at different directions’. They have close and intimate relationship among themselves resulted from the common sentiment of ‘isolation and deficiency’ and they also constructed hierarchical ranks by means of sexual behavior and media. Third, three cultural themes were induced from the high school students from special class; ‘Talking is Play’, ‘Cellular Phone is a ‘Playing Device’ and ‘Connecting with another World’. The students from special class were mainly playing the passive activities such as gaming, chatting and watching T.V. rather than involving in cooperative activities for their limited social and human network. Fourth, since the aim of integrated class is to turn the society into a place where the normal people and the handicapped are living together, the education promoting the recognition of ‘living together society’ among the normal students is necessary in parallel with the physical integration of the class and administrative supports. It is required to create the atmosphere where the normal students and the handicapped could live together by re-structuralization of the school and the society.
