체육학 지식 생태계의 구조와 통섭 (Structure and Consilience of Knowledge Ecosystem in Physical Education)

초록

이 연구는 체육학의 학문적 정체성을 정초하기 위한 거시적인 접근으로서 체육학문에 대한 생태계적 유비를 통하여 그 발전방향을 탐구한 것이다. 이는 체육학이 응용학문으로서의 학문적 지위를 구축한 분야로 성숙되긴 하였으나, 여전히 응용학문 특유의 학문적 의존성에 의해 인식론적으로 정체성이 모호한 학문분야로 전락해 있다는 진단에 근거하고 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 체육학이 모학문에 대한 의존성을 완화하고 그 위상을 제고하기 위한 접근으로서 최근 각 분야에서 제기되고 있는 통섭에 대한 논의들을 검토한 후, 이를 기반으로 체육학 통섭론의 방향을 모색하였다. 그 결과, 현재 체육학의 학문성이 안고 있는 총체적인 문제는 과학주의에의 편중, 물질적 세계관, 원칙 없는 분화, 그리고 응용학문에 대한 오해 등으로 탐색되었으며, 이에 대한 개념적 극복방안으로서 그 동안 체육학계에서 통섭의 이름으로 검토된 융합, 통합, 소통 등의 개념들과는 차별화된 진화론에 기반한 호상적 통섭의 지향을 제안하였다. 이는 인문학, 사회과학, 자연과학적 접근이 총체적으로 수행되고 있는 체육학이 통일된 방향성과 모학문과의 연계, 그리고 과학적 패러다임에 대한 이해 등을 바탕으로 재편될 가능성이 있음을 밝힌 것으로서, 체육학 지식생태계의 다안성을 제고하는 것이자 체육학문의 정체성을 공고히 하는데 그 의미가 있는 것이다.

영어초록

As this study is macroscopic approach for fixing the foundation of academic identity in physical education, it explored its developmental direction through the eco-system-based analogy on physical education. This is being based on diagnosis as saying that the physical education was matured as the field of having implemented academic position as the applied learning, but is degraded to the field whose academic identity is ambiguous epistemologically by peculiar dependence, which is still immanent in the applied learning. Accordingly, this study examined discussions about consilience, which is being raised recently in each field, as the approach in order for physical education to be eased dependence upon the mother disciplines and to be reinforced its stature, and then sought for the direction of consilience theory in physical education based on this. As a result, a general problem of being possessed by academic characteristic of the current physical education was explored as the emphasis on scientism, the physical world view, the differentiation without principle, and the misunderstanding about the applied learning. As a conceptual plan for overcoming this, it suggested the orientation of interactive consilience based on the differentiated evolution theory from concepts such as fusion, integration, and communication, which have been examined with the name of consilience in the physical education circles in the meantime. This is what clarified that the physical education, which is being generally performed the approach of humanities, social science, and natural science, has possibility of being reorganized on the basis of the connection between the unified directivity and the mother disciplines and of the understanding about scientific paradigm. There is its significance in allowing identity of physical education learning to be firm through reinforcing diverstability in knowledge eco-system of physical education.
