『宗鏡錄』의 眞心과 諸 사상 수용 관계 분석적 고찰 (Acceptance relational Analysis about Consideration Zongjing Lu of the True mind and entire thought)

초록

본 논문은 『종경록』 중에서 ‘진심’의 분석을 통해서 초기불교에서부터 『종경록』에 이르기까지 ‘진심’의 연관성을 파악하고자 하는 시도를 하였으며, 특히 ‘진심’이 가지고 있는 핵심 내용이 되는 맥락과 과정 등을 살펴서 『종경록』의 이론체계 속에서 ‘진심’의 의의(意義)와 가치를 드러내 보고자 한다.
불교의 ‘진심’사상은 유구한 역사 속에서 다양한 관점의 사상을 수용하면서 발달해 왔기 때문에 ‘진심’사상은 각각 그 시대성을 반영한다. ‘진심’에 질(質)의 변화는 양(量)에도 많은 변화를 가져다주었고 수많은 명상개념(名相槪念)과 동체이명(同體異名)의 ‘진심’을 생산해 냈다. ‘진심’의 문제는 불교의 수행실천 덕목의 근본 문제 중의 하나로서 인도불교 및 중국불교에서 매우 중요한 위치를 점유한다.
『종경록』에서 연수선사는 선교일치(禪敎一致)를 주장해서 당시 분열되고 타락한 불교를 하나로 통합하는 주체로서 일심(一心)을 선택해서 그의 사상적 이론체계를 수립했으며, 일심(一心)의 심층적 분석의 바탕위에서 ‘진심’의 이론 체계를 구축하였다. 때문에 『종경록』의 ‘진심’사상은 불교사상의 발달과정에서 제종파의 사상뿐만 아니라 각 시대의 ‘진심’사상의 변천을 수용 흡수하고 축적해서 구축해서 새로운 사상체계를 형성하고 수립한 내용이다. ‘진심’의 형성과정과 발전과정을 살펴보면 역시 인도불교 및 중국불교가 주장하는 일심(一心)속 ‘진심’(자성청정심) 사상의 범주를 크게 벗어나지 못하고 있다. ‘진심’ 사상은 이론적 의미뿐만 아니라 역사적으로도 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 그 연원을 살펴보면 위로는 인도불교사상을 전승했고 아래로는 중국의 고유한 사상과 융화를 하면서 중국불교 사상의 흐름에 새로운 기틀을 제공 했다. ‘진심’은 선종사상을 나타내는 중요한 표식(標識)중 하나로 기타 제종파의 사상체계에서도 매우 중요한 영향을 주었다.
본 논문은 초기불교 및 소승불교의 심식(心識)사상과 대승불교사의 역사적 배경과 사상적 기반을 통해서, ‘진심’사상이 어떻게 발전해 왔으며, 어떠한 의미로 여래장, 불성, 중도실상, 유식, 화엄등 사상을 수용 결합 되었는지 그 연관성을 살피고, 각 경전 속에 함축된 ‘진심’의 의미를 및 초기경전의 심식(心識)사상과 유대관계를 고찰해서 심식(心識), 일심(一心), ‘진심(眞心)’으로 이어지는 총체적인 수용관계를 집중적으로 정리해 보려고 한다.

영어초록

This study attempted to understand the association of the true mind (真心) with Buddhism through its history from early Buddhism to Zongjing Lu (宗鏡錄) by analyzing the true mind in Zongjing Lu and especially, it attempted to explain the meanings and values of the true mind in Zongjing Lu through examining the context and process that the true mind became the core content of the writing. Because the true mind thought of Buddhism has been developed by incorporating thoughts of various viewpoints through its long history, the thought reflects the trend of the times.
Changes in the quality of the true mind have brought many changes in the quantity, and produced various concepts of meditation and different names of the true mind.
The true mind is one of the fundamental virtues required in the discipline of Buddhism, and is regarded as very crucial in Indian and Chinese Buddhism. The true mind thought also occupies an important position not only in theoretical meaning but also in historical significance.
Historically, it inherited the Indian Buddhist thought and, mixed with Chinese native thoughts, provided a new framework for the flow of Chinese Buddhist thought. The true mind is one of important markers representing the thought of Zen Buddhism(禪宗) and the ideological systems of many other Buddhist sects also attach essential values and meanings to the true mind.
In Zongjing Lu, Yongming Yanshou insisted on the agreement of Zen and Teaching and he established his ideological and theoretical system by choosing the one mind(一心) as the subject integrating the divided and corrupted Buddhism into one, and then he built the theoretical system of the true mind based on the in-depth analysis of the one mind.
Therefore, the true mind thought in Zongjing Lu is a new ideological system established through accepting and incorporating not only the thoughts of all Buddhist sects but also different ideas of the true mind in different ages throughout the process of the development of the Buddhist thought. As to the process of the formation and development of the true mind, it has not gone far from the idea of ‘the true mind in the one mind’(pure innate mind-自性清淨心) advocated by Indian and Chinese Buddhism.
This study attempted to examine how the true mind thought has been developed and what meanings it has received and incorporated that resulted in its association with Tathagatagarbha(如來藏), Buddha-nature(佛性), mean reality(中道實相), consciousness-only(唯識), and Avataṃsaka(華嚴) based on ‘the true mind in the one mind’ in early Buddhism and Theravada Buddhism and the historical background and ideological foundation of Mahayana Buddhism, to analyzed meanings implied by the true mind in each Buddhist scripture, and to discuss the overall connection, significance, and context of mind-consciousness, one mind, and true mind through exploring their association with the mind-consciousness thought in early scriptures.
