초록

화성지역 3.1운동은 다른 지역과 달리 투쟁 강도가 거세 일제로부터 가혹한 탄압을 받았다. 이곳의 3.1운동 연구가 활발한 것도 이와 무관하지 않다. 하지만 연구자마다 각기 다른 자료를 제시하거나 해석이 다른 점도 적지 않다. 이에 본 연구는 이에 대한 문제점을 지적하고 몇 가지 제안을 하고자 하였다.
첫째, 시위가 같은 장소, 시간에 일어났는데도 연구자에 따라 다르게 기술되어 있다. 연구자에 따라 역사적 해석의 차이는 있을 수 있지만, 기본적인 사실 내용이 다르면 연구에 대한 신뢰도가 그만큼 떨어진다. 이는 철저한 사료 비판이 선행되지 않았기 때문이다. 사실 측면에서 연구자 본인과 다를 경우에는 이를 각주를 달아 독자들에게 차이점을 알게끔 하고 나름 이유나 근거를 제시해야 할 것이다.
둘째, 화성지역 3.1운동의 특징은 식민통치 기관인 면사무소나 주재소를 방화하고 순사를 처단한 것을 꼽는다. 이에 대해 시위가 계획적이었다거나 각기 다른 종교인들이 연합하였기 때문이라는 결론을 내리고 있다. 하지만 이는 성급한 결론이라 생각한다. 시위자들의 종교가 다양했을 뿐이지 종교 신념에 의해 움직였다고 보고 힘들기 때문이다. 이는 시위자의 개별적인 연구가 부족하여 생긴 문제라 보인다. 개인과 개인 간의 연결 고리를 이어가면 이러한 문제는 어느 정도 해소될 것이라 생각한다.
셋째, 이곳 3.1운동의 연구가 주로 ‘제암리의 학살 사건’에 초점이 맞춰져 전개과정, 주도세력, 일제의 탄압 등에 집중되어 있다. 이와 관련한 연구는 학살된 사람들의 사회적 배경이나 정치적·경제적인 상황 등도 함께 고려되어야 한다.
넷째, 화성시 송산면, 장안면, 우정면, 발안면, 향남면 등지에서 3.1운동이 활발하게 전개되었지만, 이외의 지역에서는 그렇지 못한 이유를 밝혀내야 한다. 이는 3.1운동이 일어나는 동인을 찾는 일이기 때문이다. 또한 이를 통해 화성지역의 3.1운동이 전체 3.1운동사에서 어떤 역사적인 의미가 있는지, 또한 어떤 이유에서 다른 지역과 달리 투쟁성이 강하였는지를 밝혀질 것이기 때문이다.
다섯째, 화성지역 3.1운동을 집대성하는 작업이 필요하다. 이와 관련한 연구는 지역별, 시간별로 화성지역 3.1운동의 연표를 작성하고 연구 자료 간에 차이점을 분석해야만 한다. 이는 화성 3.1운동을 좀 더 명확하게 할 것이고 이를 재현, 복원할 때에도 도움이 될 것이다.
여섯째, 미포상자 발굴도 게을리 하지 않으면 안 된다. 많은 사람들이 화성지역 3.1운동에 참가하였고 희생도 컸음에도 불구하고 비슷한 규모로 3.1운동이 전개된 다른 지역보다 수훈자가 적기 때문이다.
일곱째, 화성지역에 3.1운동 연구소가 건립되었으면 한다. 3.1운동이 일어난 지 100주년이 다되어 가지만 이렇다 할 연구소나 기념관 하나 없는 실정이다. 이는 중앙부처가 나서서 만들어야 하겠지만, 화성시가 이를 주도해 나갈 이유가 분명하기 때문이다. 이를 통해 화성이 3.1운동 연구의 메카로 거듭났으면 하는 바람이다.

영어초록

Hwaseong area 3.1 Movement, unlike other areas, had a strong struggle strength and received severe repression from the Japanese emperor. It is not this relationship that the 3.1 exercise related research here was performed actively. However, there are many points that different researchers present different materials and interpretations. Therefore, this study pointed out the problems and tried to suggest some suggestions.
First, although the protests have occurred at the same place and time, researchers have described them differently. There are differences in historical interpretation among researchers, but if the contents of the basic facts are different, the reliability of the research will decrease so much. This is because thorough historical criticism was not preceded.
Secondly, the characteristic of the Suwon area 3.1 movement is to mention that the arrests were made by fire at the village office, which is the colonial governance body, and the residential area. It is concluded that the demonstration was planned or that different religions were united. But I think this is a hasty conclusion. It was because the religion of the demo was diversified, not acting with religious beliefs.
Third, the study of the 3.1 Movement in the Hwaseong region focuses mainly on the ‘Jeam-ri Massacre’, focusing on the development process, the leading forces, and repression of the Japanese occupation. The study should also take into account the social background and political and economic circumstances of the slaughtered people.
Fourth, it is also necessary to conduct research on areas where 3.1 movement is not developed in the Hwaseong area. This is to find the cause 3.1 movement occurs. This also reveals what kind of historical significance the 3.1 movement in the Hwaseong area has in the 3.1 movement history as a whole, and for why and for what reason, unlike other areas, the fighting power is strong It is because it is done.
Fifth, it is necessary to integrate the 3.1 movement in Hwaseong. In this regard, it is necessary to prepare a chronology of the 3.1 Hwaseong Movement by region and time, and analyze the differences among the research data. This will make the Seoul 3.1 movement more clear, and it will also help in reconstructing and restoring it.
Sixth, future research should neglect the discovery of people who are not rewarded. Many people participated in the Hwaseong Area 3.1 movement and although the sacrifice was large, there were fewer number of honors than others in the same scale.
Seventh, I would like to establish 3.1 movement research institute in Hwaseong area. It is the fact that there are no such laboratories or memorials as the 100th anniversary of the birth of The March 1stMovemen. This is because the central ministry has to make it, but it is clear why Hwaseong city will lead it. It is hoped that Hwaseong City will be reborn as a mecca of 3.1 movement research Institute.
