초록

The purpose of this paper is to interpret the fragmentary writing afresh in the light of Slavoj Zizek’s theories of ‘blot’ and ‘fantasy.’ Taking Stephen Graham Jones’s Bleed into Me: A Book of Stories(2005), a collection of short episodes, as an example, I will analyze how blots among and through fragments are created, how black holes open in the text, and how the readers are led to look awry beyond the fantasy of the reality and thus shifted to face the real. Native American critic Gerald Vizenor’s post-indian theories, in association with Zizek’s theories, will also illuminate Jones’s success in smashing mythologized stereotypes of American Indians and in projecting real Native Americans. A serious examination of numerous blots, Columbus and the blood in particular, will reveal Jones’s ultimate goal of writing in fragments, that is to help the readers to look awry beyond existing causes of demarcation and to become rehabilitated from trauma.
