2015년 교육과정에 따라 검인정된 고교 세계사 교과서들의 연구 - 서양고대 서술의 관습적인 문제점들 및 전공지식 적용상의 문제들 (A Study on the Authorized Textbooks of World History 2015 Conventional Problems in Writing About Antiquity in the West and Problems in the Application of Disciplinary Knowledge)

초록

2015년에 교육과정의 개정에 따라 교과서들이 이후 새롭게 집필되었다. 역사 부문 교과서에 관련해서 그 배경에는 당시 논란이 거세게 일고 있었던 역사교과서의 문제로 인해 올바른 역사서술을 위한 외침이 강하게 일어난 정치-사회적 문제도 있었고 장기적으로 논의된 현실적인 세계의 흐름을 반영하는 시사적인 세계사 인식을 위한 시대적 요청도 있었다고 할 것이다.
개정된 교육과정에 따라 새롭게 집필된 교과서들 중에서 본고에서는 필자의 전공인 서양고대에 관련된 세계사 교과서들의 서술을 다루게 되었다. 이에 관련하여 직접적으로 취급의 대상이 된 교과서는 2017년 검인정을 통해 2018년 3월에 출간된 도합 네 가지의 고교 세계사 교과서이다: 천재, 비상, 금성, 미래엔, 본고에서는 두 가지 관심사를 가지고 이 교과서의 서술에 보이는 문제들을 다루었다. 먼저 이 교과서에서 서양고대의 영역에 관련되어 보이는 관습적인 서술상의 한계와 문제점들을 짚었다. 이로써 분석을 통해 확인되는 바가 서술의 고정적 패턴화의 문제, 독자의 입장을 배려한 눈높이를 맞추는 서술의 부족, 논리적, 역사적 맥을 고려한 인과관계적 설명의 부족 등이었다. 또 한 가지 초점을 둔 문제점의 진단은 전공지식이 교과서들에서 어느 정도의 완성도를 지니고 반영되었나 하는 점이었다. 이를 체계적으로 제시하기 위해 서양고대를 다시 세분화해서 고대근동, 그리스, 로마 세 가지 분야에서 구체적인 문제점들을 찾아 보았다. 이로써 고대근동에서는 이집트에 대한 단순한 지리결정론적 해석의 한계, 군사적 기술에 대한 체계적 분석의 문제 그리고 아시리아 제국주의의 메커니즘 반영의 필요성 등을 제안하게 되었다. 그리스에서는 민주주의의 개념에 대한 설명적 제시의 부족, 아테네와 스파르타 관계사 해석의 상투적 인식의 한계, 알렉산드로스 시대를 이해하는 주요 세 가지 역사적 사실파악의 문제 등을 제시하였다. 그리고 로마에서는 공화정 자체의 개념적 인식의 부족과 기독교 설명의 계통적 파악의 한계 등을 찾아내었다, 시대가 흐르면서 세계사 교과서가 매우 화려해지고 다양한 설명수단을 동원하고 매우 다채로와지는 것처럼 보인다. 하지만 서양고대만 해도 필자가 보기에도 적지 않게 다양다종의 크고 작은 시정되고 보완되어야 할 역사적 사실과 그 개념에 대한 인식의 문제들이 보인다. 세계사 교과서 집필의 질적이고도 내적인 성숙을 위해 집필진과 연구진 그리고 검정하는 과정에 좀 더 많은 전문인력을 투입하도록 간절히 요청하는 바이다.

영어초록

The textbooks for middle and high school were written according to the revised national curriculum in 2015. In the background, in relation to the history textbooks, cries for correct historical writing have risen up in the political and social fields, while the requirements of the time emphasized the current understanding of World History that had been long discussed.
The writer of this paper selected a certain particular part, namely the antiquity of the West, for this study as it is also his major. The direct objective textbooks are of 4 different kinds: Chunjae, Bisang, Keumsung and Mirae-N.
This paper had two focal points according to which textbooks were considered. Firstly, it considered the conventional limits and problems of the textbooks that were exposed in relation to the field of western antiquity. Through this 3 points are proved: (1). The problem of stereotyped pattern in the description, (2). Lacking in the writing that indicates a failure to consider the level of the readers, and (3). A shortage of casuistic descriptions that are supported with logical and historical contexts. The second interest of the paper was how much perfection of professional knowledge was realized in the textbooks. In order to analyze systematically and sequentially the object of study, Western Antiquity was divided into 3 specific periods: the Ancient Near East, Greece and Rome. In the Ancient Near East, the limit of the interpretation according to geographical determinism for ancient Egypt, the problem of systematic analysis of military technology, and the necessity of explanation on the mechanism of Assyrian imperialism became issues. In Greece, the shortage of conceptual explanation regarding democracy, the limit of conventional awareness of the relationship between Athens and Sparta, and the three main erroneous understandings on the Alexandrian era were indicated. And in Roman History the writer found 2 problematic things: a shortage of conceptual understanding regarding Roman Republicanism and a limit in the systematic understanding of Christianity Our Korean textbooks on World History seem to have become colorful and luxurious. But they prove to still contain not a few problems in that there are the shortages of understandings on the historical facts and their conceptions. The writer would like to suggest for the purpose of the qualitative maturity of the World History textbooks that more specific professionals should be employed not only for the field of authorization but also for studying and writing these books.
