무안 사창리 일원 부장철기에 대한 일고찰 - 鍛冶具와 蛇曲劍을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Ironware Buried in the Area of Sachang-ri, Muan: Focusing on smith’s tools and the flame-bladed sword)

초록

최근 삼국시대 영산강유역의 고고학 자료가 증가하면서 그동안 주목받았던 반남고분군 조영집단에 대한 영향력이 재평가되고 있다.
특히 수계별 지역거점의 존재와 성장에 주목한 접근이 이루어지고있다. 무안 사창리 일원은 영산강 하류역에서도 삼포강과 각 지류를이어주는 교통의 요지로서 무안 양장리유적을 중심으로 한 대규모취락 네트워크의 한 축을 담당하였다는 점에서 주목되는 지역이다.
본고는 무안 사창리 일원 철기문화의 발전과정을 살펴보고, 그 중특수한 사례의 부장된 철기, 즉 사창리 옹관묘의 단야구(鍛冶具)와덕암고분의 사곡검(蛇曲劍)에 집중하여 영산강하류 지역거점으로서사창리 일원 지역집단의 성격을 추정하였다.
무안 사창리 일원 부장철기를 살피면서 철기생산과 대외교류의 산물로 여겨지는 단야구와 사곡검을 특수부장철기로 비정하고 이를 부장한 사창리 일원 지역집단의 정체성을 다음과 같이 정리하였다.
사창리 옹관묘 내 부장된 단야구를 사용한 집단은 4~5세기 영산강 중하류에 존재하던 거점취락을 중심으로 한 철기생산 네트워크의중심세력일 가능성을 제기하였다. 또한 무안 덕암고분의 사곡검은일본열도와 관련된 상징적 신물(神物)로서 2회 변곡점을 가진 사곡검은 5세기 전엽 서남해안 도서지역에서 확인되는 왜계고분의 등장과 관련된 것으로 보았다. 이를 통해 사창리 일원의 지역집단은 영산강 하류의 교두보라는 지리적 이점을 활용하여 5세기 전엽 대외교류에 가담하였던 것으로 추정된다.

영어초록

As the archeological materials on the Yeongsan River basin in the Three Kingdoms Period increase recently, the influence on the Bannam ancient tombs builders having received attention so far is being reevaluated. Especially, the approach focusing on the existence and growth of the local hub by watershed is being taken. It is noticeable that the area of Sachang-ri, Muan took the role of one axis of the large scale settlement network around the remains of Yangjangri, Muan as the major transportation point connecting the Sampo River with each branch in the downstream basin of the Yeongsan River.
The study addressed the development process of the ironware culture of the area of Sachang-ri, Muan and estimated the characteristics of the local group of the Sachang-ri area as the local hub of the downstream of the Yeongsan River by focusing on the buried ironware of the special case including smith’s tools of the jar coffins of Sachang-ri and the flame-bladed sword of the Deokam tomb.
Smith’s tools and the flame-bladed sword considered as the output of ironware production and external exchange were comparatively decided as the special buried ironware by addressing the ironware buried in the area of Sachang-ri, Muan, and the identity of the local group burying them in the Sachang-ri area was comparatively decided as follows.
It was asserted that the group using smith’s tools buried in the jar coffins of Sachang-ri was possibly the central force of the ironware production network around the settlement hub existing in the midstream and downstream of the Yeongsan River in the 4th and 5th centuries.
Moreover, it was considered that the flame-bladed sword of Muam Deokam tomb being the symbolic divine thing related to the Japanese islands and having the inflection points two times was related to the emergence of the Japanese Style Tombs found in the island region of the southwestern coast in the first half of the 5th century. It is estimated that the local group in the Sachang-ri area used the geographical advantage of the bridgehead in the downstream of the Yeongsan River accordingly to engage in the external exchange in the 1st half of the 5th century.
