초록

본 연구는 청주고인쇄박물관 어린이 체험전시 사례를 통해 지역 콘텐츠를 활용한 관람객의 기록문화수용과정을 고찰하였다. 전시 개발과정 및 그 과정에서 고민했던 내용을 정리하고, 관람만족도 조사및 관람객 관찰을 통해 연구목적을 달성하고자 하였다.
전시주제는 청주지역의 주요 역사문화 콘텐츠인 ‘기록’을 선정하였고, ‘어린이들이 역사 속 기록도구와 기록물 관련 체험을 통해 기억·정보 나눔의 가치를 느끼고 실천할 수 있도록 함’이라는 기획의도를 준비하였다. 전시는 크게 5존으로 구분하여 시대별 기록도구의 종류와 쓰임을 체험과 연관시켰다.
주요 키워드는 우리나라 역사 속에서 기록의 발전에 중요한 획기로 평가되는 4개의 기록도구 즉 선사시대에 사용된 ‘석기’, 신라시대에 시작된 ‘목판’, 고려시대에 시작된 ‘금속활자’, 원사(原史)시대부터시작되어 현대까지 이어진 ‘붓’이다. 어린이들에게 친근한 인상을 주기 위해 기록도구를 의인화하여캐릭터로 개발하였고 유물과 체험내용을 연계하였다.
연구결과 어린이들은 소근육을 활용한 체험에 높은 선호도를 보였고, 개별 인터뷰에서 ‘재미있다’고응답한 어린이가 많았다. 보호자들은 체험전시 전반에 만족했으며 향후에도 어린이 대상 전시개최 시재방문하겠다고 응답하였다. 방문자의 대다수가 청주시에 거주자였는데, 이를 통해 지역민들의 문화적 수요가 높음을 알 수 있었다.
본 연구는 지역의 정체성을 담을 수 있는 콘텐츠를 고민하여 어린이 대상 전시를 개발하고 그를 통한관람객의 수용과정을 고민해보았다는데 의의가 있다. 본 사례가 지역콘텐츠를 활용한 어린이 체험전시로써 하나의 참고자료가 되길 기대한다.

영어초록

This study explores how visitors engage with documentation culture through exhibitions featuring local content, focusing specifically on Experiential exhibitions for children at the Cheongju Early Printing Museum. To achieve this objective, the author outlines key considerations for the exhibition development process, conducts a survey to assess visitor satisfaction, and observes visitor engagement.
The theme of the exhibition is “Documentation”, as a major historical and cultural aspect of the Cheongju area. The goal is “to help children learn about documenting equipment in history and engage in hands-on documentation experience, eventually appreciation for the and sharing information” The exhibition consists of five sections where children can interact with documentation tools from various historical periods, presented in experiential formats.
The main keywords focus on four significant innovations in Korean documentation history: “stone tools” from the Stone Age, “woodblocks” used since the Silla Dynasty, “metal types” used since the Goryeo Dynasty, and “brushes” used from the proto-historic times to the modern times. These innovations are personified as characters create a friendly introduction for children, and each artifacts are presented in association with experiential content.
The result indicates that children showed strong preferences for hands -on sessions involving fine motor skills, with many of them stating, “It was fun” during individual interviews. Parents and guardians showed positive reactions as well to overall museum experience, iexpressing interest in returning for future exhibitions for children. Notably, most of the visitors were from Cheongju City, indicating high cultural demands among local population.
This study holds significance in its development of exhibitions for children that reflects local identity, and in its exploration on how visitors engage with those exhibitions. It is hoped that this study will serve as a reference for future experiential exhibitions for children that emply local content.
