이 글은 아동문학 사전 『100개의 키워드로 읽는 한국 아동청소년문학』의 특징을 표제어와 표제어 설명을 중심으로 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 사전의 의의와 한계를 도출할 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 여기에서는 영미의 아동문학 사전 Keywords for Children's Literature(2nd edition)를 비교항으로 설정하였다. 그 결과 ‘100개의 키워드’는 첫째, 표제어를 연대별로 배치하여 표제어에 한국 아동문학사적 맥락을 부여하였다. 둘째, 한국 아동문학사의 실체와 담론을 포괄하는 표제어를 선정하고 이들을 아동문학사 기술에 적절한 방식으로 배치하였다. 셋째, 한국적 맥락의 개념과 용어 중심으로 표제어를 선정하거나 표제어 설명을 구성하였다. 그리고 표제어 설명 구성 방식에 있어 ‘100개의 키워드’는 주로 ‘개괄-주요 작가와 작품-평가와 전망’의 틀을 따른다. 이러한 특성은 ‘널리 인정되는 정보의 제공’으로 요약된다. 이러한 ‘100개의 키워드’는 한국의 어린이날 선언 100주년을 기념하는 성과물이자, 한국 아동문학 연구의 성과를 집대성하는 자료, 한국 아동문학의 역사적 전개를 간명한 문장으로 서술하여 한국 아동문학에 관해 널리 인정되는 정보를 제공하는 자료로서 의의를 갖는다. 그러나 논쟁적 요소가 약화되고, ‘한국 아동문학’을 이해하는 데 필요한 표제어가 일부 누락되었으며, 한국 아동문학사의 연대를 10년 단위로 구분했다는 점에서 한계를 갖는다.

영어초록

This article aims to examine the characteristics of the children's literature dictionary: 100 Keywords for Korean Children's and Young Adult Literature by focusing on the headings and descriptions of the headings, and to derive the significance and limitations of the dictionary based on this. To fulfill the purpose of the study, the English children's literature dictionary: Keywords for Children's Literature (2nd edition) was used as a comparison. As a result, ‘100 Keywords', firstly, gives the headings a historical context of Korean children's literature by arranging the headings by chronological period. Secondly, it selected headings that encompass the substance and discourse of Korean children's literature history and arranged them in a way that is appropriate for children's literature history-technology. Thirdly, it selected headings or constructed descriptions of the headings centered on concepts and terms in the Korean context; and in the way of organising the descriptions of the headings, '100 Keywords' mainly follows the framework of 'Overview - Major Authors and Works - Evaluation and Outlook'. These characteristics are summarized as ‘providing widely recognized information'. The ‘100 Keywords’ is significant for following three reasons; as a product to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Children's Day in Korea, as a resource to summarize the achievements of Korean children's literature research, and as a resource to provide widely accepted information about Korean children's literature by describing the historical development of Korean children's literature in simple sentences. However, it has limitations: the polemical element is weakened; necessary headings to understand Korean children's literature are missing; and the chronology of Korean children's literature history is divided into decade-by-decade units.
