    초록

This paper examined the trend of Silla and Taekaya’s influence surrounding the waterway in the middle of the Nakdong river at the period of 4-6 centuries based on locations of ferry points and mountain fortress walls. Locations of ferry points and mountain fortress walls in the middle of Nakdong river were known by geographies and atlases of Chosun Kingdom. Also mountain fortress walls in the neighborhood of ferry points were recorded. The mountain fortress walls were demonstrated evidences that the ferry points were functioned not only as pass ways which connected west and east side of the river but also as strategic points of the Nakdong river. In 4th century, Silla was not able to control the waterway. But, In 5th century, Silla was able to control the waterway completely. This was substantiated through excavating remains of Silla’s earthenware and metal goods from the middle and lower area of Nakdong river and old tombs of Seongju region. Specially, intensive amount of remains were excavated from the Okjeon tomb located at Seongsan-ri, Ssangchak-myeon, Hapcheon-gun. In the latter half of 5th century, Taekaya commanded the waterway of Hwang river through stronger power while Bakje and Silla concentrate all energy to hold Koguryeo’s southward advance. Later, Taekaya was confronted with Silla at the border line of Nakdong river.
At the first half of 6th century, Silla and Bakje oppressed Taekaya as the Koguryeo’s southward blunted. In 514, Taekaya built a fortress at Taesa (Hadong, Kyeongnam) to contain Bakje and Silla. This fortress also was for defending invasion of Bakje or Japanese. After building more fortresses at Iyeolbi(Burim-myeon, Hapcheon-gun) and Masubi, Taekaya went across Nakdong river to attack Chubong (Hyeonpung-eup, Taegu Metropolitan City) and Machahae. Around 522, After Bakje regained the control of Daesa, Taekaya was allied with Silla through marriage to contain Bakje and Japanese. This facts helps a inference that Taekaya withdrew from the east side of Nakdong river. The alliance between Taekaya and Silla was ruptured around 562. Although Taekaya tried to set up an alliance with Bakje to resist Silla’s proceeding to east, Taekaya was amalgamated into Silla.
