노인의 여가경험과 여가만족, 심리적 행복감, 죽음불안의 구조적 관계 (The Structural Relationship between Leisure Experiences, Leisure Satisfaction, Happiness and Death Anxiety of the Elderly People)

초록

본 연구는 노인의 여가경험과 여가만족, 심리적 행복감 그리고 죽음불안과의 관계를 연구하기 위한 사례 연구이다. 기존의 연구에서는 여가경험을 통한 심리적 행복감과 죽음불안의 인과관계를 규명하는 연구는 찾아보기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 노인의 여가경험과 여가만족의 관계를 탐색하고자 하며, 나아가 여가만족과 심리적 행복감, 죽음불안의 관계를 확인하고자 하였다. 그리고 노인의 심리적 행복감과 죽음불안의 관계에 대하여 탐구하고자 시도하였다. 대구ㆍ경북, 부산ㆍ경남에 거주하는 노인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 표본추출방법은 편의 표본추출방법을 사용하였으며 설문조사는 2018년 8월부터 10월까지 약 3개월에 걸쳐 조사하였다. 설문지는 300부를 배포하여 258부를 분석 자료로 이용하였다. 배포된 설문지를 회수하여 얻은 자료들은 IBM SPSS Amos 20.0을 이용하여 공분산구조분석(structural equation model: SEM)을 실행하였다. 가설검증 결과 첫째, 노인의 여가경험은 여가만족에 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되어 여가경험을 높게 지각할수록 여가만족이 높아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 노인의 여가만족은 심리적 행복감에 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 노인의 여가만족은 죽음불안에 유의미한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 노인의 심리적 행복감은 죽음불안에 유의미한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 심리적 행복감을 높게 지각할수록 죽음불안이 낮아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 학술적 가치 뿐 만 아니라 고령사회로 급변하는 현 시대에 정부나 공공기관에서 노인을 위한 프로그램 구성에 있어 우선순위를 고려할 때 유용한 참고자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 노인죽음준비교육, 성공적 노화 프로그램 구성에 다양한 여가경험을 활용할 있도록 교육 및 홍보의 필요성이 제기 될 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This study is a case study to investigate the relationships among elderly people’s leisure experiences, leisure satisfaction, happiness, and death anxiety. Among the existing studies, it is hard to find studies that inquired into the causality between death anxiety and happiness through leisure experience. Thus, this study intended to explore the relationship between the elderly people’s leisure experiences and leisure satisfaction, and further to find the relationships among their leisure satisfaction and happiness and death anxiety. And it tried to explore the relationship between the elderly people’s happiness and death anxiety.
This study conducted a questionnaire survey of elderly people living in Daegu & Gyeongbuk and Busan & Gyeongnam. Convenient sampling was used to select the sample, and the questionnaire survey was carried out for about three months from August 2018 to October 2018. 300 questionnaires were distributed, and 258 copies collected among them were used for data analysis. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was carried out with data obtained from the collected questionnaires, using IBM SPSS Amos 20.0. The results of hypothesis testing were as follows: First, it was found that the elderly people’s leisure experiences had significant positive (+) effects on their leisure satisfaction, and thus that the higher the perception of leisure experiences, the higher the leisure satisfaction. Second, it was found that the elderly people’s leisure satisfaction had significant positive (+) effects on happiness. Third, the elderly people’s leisure satisfaction had significant negative (-) effects on death anxiety. Lastly, the elderly people’s happiness had significant negative (-) effects on death anxiety, and thus that the higher the happiness, the lower the death anxiety.
In addition their academic value, the results of this study may be used as useful reference data for deciding priorities in the design of programs for elderly people by the government or public institutions at the present moment when society is rapidly shifting into the aged society. Further, there may be a need for education and publicity so that diverse leisure experiences may be used in death preparation education for elderly people and in the design of successful aging programs.
