개념혼성이론을 통해 본 通感의 의미구성 (A Study on Meaning Construction in Chinese synaesthesia by Conceptual Blending Theory)

초록

통감은 하나의 감각을 다른 감각을 통해 표현하는 것이다. 본고는 통감을 역시 두 개의 개념 영역간의 사상으로 구성되는 개념은유의 원리로 설명하면서, 동시에 통감이 은유와 다른 고유한 구성원리도 가지고 있음을 강조하였다. 유사성과 인접성의 원리를 기반으로 다양한 통감의 사례를 분석하였고, 은유적 의미가 구성되는 개념혼성이론의 혼성 공간 모델을 통하여 통감의 의미가 구성되는 역동적인 과정을 보여주었다.

영어초록

Synaesthesia is a metaphor that expresses one sense through another and is composed of the relationship between two conceptual domains. For this reason, synaesthesia also follows the principle of concept metaphor consisting of projections between two domains. However, if a general metaphor consists of projections between two domains, abstract and concrete, synaesthesia consisting of projections between concrete donors and concrete recipients. On the other hand, it differs from the general metaphor in that the projection of the concept in synaesthesia proceeds in only one direction.
In Chinese synaesthesia adjectives, most sensory adjectives are mainly transferred to visual and auditory adjectives. In this way, the synesthesia transfer process between sensory adjectives does not proceed uniformly in two directions, but proceeds irregularly. Synaesthesia undergoes an asymmetric and irreversible transfer process at the vocabulary level, but at the discourse level, free transfer of meaning is possible. The composition of the meaning of synaesthesia at the level of discourse consists of various forms of blending. At the level of discourse, a blending of meaning is also achieved in combination with other background elements.
The synaesthesia can be said to be a dynamic language phenomenon that generates creative meanings based on the principle of similarity and contiguity. Humans were already practicing creative and flexible thinking through the composition of the meaning of synaesthesia in a conceptual blending space.
