Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of escape room simulation education on nursing students’ confidence in core nursing skills, patient safety management attitude, learning confidence, and critical thinking disposition. Methods: This study was conducted between October and November 2023, and 49 students who took a basic nursing practice course participated. Six ROE simulation scenarios were developed, including six core nursing skills (intramuscular injection, intravenous injection, oral medication, intermittent gastric tube feeding, Nelaton catheterization, and Foley catheterization). Six escape room game simulation sessions incorporating the ROE were conducted over six weeks. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Core nursing skill performance confidence, attitude toward patient safety, learning confidence, and critical thinking disposition were measured before and after simulation education. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests (SPSS Statistics Ver. 26.0). Results: According to the results, the subjects’ core nursing skills performance confidence (t=-4.00, p<.001), attitude toward patient safety (t=-2.60, p=.012), learning confidence (t=-2.63, p=.012), and critical thinking disposition (t=-3.46, p=.001) increased significantly after participating in the simulation education. Conclusion: The results suggest that escape room simulation education is an effective educational strategy. Therefore, this study suggests the development and expansion of various simulation education programs.
