This essay examines kinds and formal composition system of block books of The Doctrine of the Mean housed in Kyujanggak and investigated research tendency about it in the middle and late periods of Joseon Dynasty. Especially, it establishes which characteristics have view of golden mean of several scholars in the middle and late periods of Joseon Dynasty according to two core study methodology of The Doctrine of the Mean of the metaphysical viewpoint of Neo-Confucianism and moral practice. If writer arrange characteristic of block books of The Doctrine of the Mean housed in Kyujanggak, it can be summed up several articles for this At first, There are striking differences between block books like Jungyongjanggu, Jungyongunhae, and Jungyongjanggudaejeon published in the country and handbook of The Mean built by the individual among block books of The Doctrine of the Mean of Kyujanggak. The second, If one watch the publication time, while Jungyongunhae, and Jungyongjanggudaejeon was published consistently since the mid Joseon Dynasty, Jungyongjanggu was pressed relatively in the late period since yeongzo era to sunzo one. To put it concretely, we can say that study of Jungyongjanggu and Jungyongjanggudaejeon published consistently in the country with great interest among block books of The Doctrine of the Mean of Kyujanggak has the directivity affirming metaphysical viewpoint of Neo-Confucianism. Whereas Jungyonggukyeongyeoneyi of Lee Eonjeok, Jungyongsabyeonlok of Park Sedang and Jungyongjajam of Jeong Yakyong show understanding method of Jungyong to emphasize moral practice For modern studies of The Mean, it is necessary to establish viewpoint through which one distinguishes between Junghwa[中和] as core term of theory of mind and nature and Jungyong[中庸] as concept for everyday moral practice. Going one step forward, it is also to formulate timely research methodology that one deduces life or ecological value as modern meaning involved in the golden Mean.
