신경림 시에 나타난 마을 서사의 지향성 연구 (A Study of Directivity on Village Lyrics in the Poetry of Sin Gyeong-rim)

초록

본 연구는 신경림 시 세계의 연속성을 마을 서사에서 찾고, 그것이 시인의 인생 단계마다 형성되는 삶의 지향성에 따라 어떤 변화를 보이는지 파악한다. 신경림 시에 나타난 마을은 그가 실제로 거주하거나 체류한 곳으로 그의 장년, 중년, 노년에 걸친 인생 단계가 반영되어 있다. 에릭 에릭슨은 개인의 삶을 공동체와 역사에 연결해 인생 단계마다 특정한 의식화가 이루어진다고 말한다. 장년기의 친화적 의식화, 중년기의 이상적 가치에 대한 의식화, 노년기의 삶의 유한성에 대한 의식화를 말하는 에릭슨의 관점은 신경림의 시의 마을 서사의 지향성 변화를 이해하는 데 도움을 준다.
구체적으로 에릭슨이 말하는 장년기의 친화적 의식화는 신경림의 시에서 마을 광장의 집단성을 통해 드러난다. 중년기의 이상적 가치의 전달자로서 갖는 의식은 여행지 마을의 자본화로 발생하는 경관의 혼종성에 대해 고민하는 시인의 모습으로 나타난다. 마지막으로 노년기의 삶의 유한성에 대한 의식화는 집과 고향의 의미를 성찰하고 이승을 떠난 선대의 가족을 비로소 이해하는 모습으로 나타난다. 에릭슨의 인간 발달 단계를 통해 살펴 본 신경림 시의 마을 서사는 단지 시인의 예술적 성취로서만이 아닌 인생 단계에 따라 인간이 지향하는 영역성이 어떻게 변화하고 그 의미는 무엇인지 보여준다.
신경림은 민중 시인으로서 입지를 크게 다진 만큼, 민중 시인으로서 그가 가진 아우라는 크다. 그러나 독자들이 그의 시에 몰입할 수 있는 가장 큰 이유는 마을 서사와 같은 생생한 현장성 때문이다. 본고에서 논의한 마을의 광장성, 경관성, 유일성은 시인의 현장 경험을 통해 재현된 기층민의 삶이 담겨 있다. 따라서 신경림 시의 마을 서사는 시인의 인생과 시적 세계관이 구축된 장소성을 함축한다. 시인의 인생 단계와 작품의 현장성을 결합한 본 연구는 신경림 시 연구의 민중적 프레임을 벗고 새롭게 접근하는 계기가 될 것이다.

영어초록

This study searches for the continuity of Sin Gyeong-rim's poetry world in a village narration and finds out how it demonstrates changes depending on the directivity of life established in each life stage for the poet. The village appearing in the poems of Sin Gyeong-rim are the places where he actually resided or stayed and they reflect the life stage through his prime of life, midlife and advanced age. Erik H. Erikson states that an individual life is connected to the community and history to have the specific awareness each life stage. The perspective views of Erikson who speaks on the friendly awareness of the prime of life period, the awareness on the ideal value of the midlife period and the awareness on the finitude of life for the advanced age period help understanding of change in the directivity of village narratives in Sin Gyeong-rim's poems.
In details, the friendly awareness for the prime age, as stated by Erik H. Erikson, appears through the collectivity of the village square in the poetry of Sin Gyeong-rim. The consciousness held as the conveyor of the ideal value for the midlife period appears in the poet's appearance for contemplating on hybridity of lower class and landscape arising from the capitalistic features in the villages in his journey. Lastly, the awareness on the finitude on life in the advanced age period is appeared in the appearance of profound contemplation on home and hometown as well as ultimately understanding those early ancestors who have left the earthly world. Through the human development phase of Erikson, it is easily found out that the village narration of Sin Gyeong-rim's poetry would be the general directivity and process of maturity on human villages following the life stage, not simply an artistic accomplishment of a poet.
Sin Gyeong-rim has laid down his own foundation as the people's poet that his aura as a people's poet is immense. However, the greatest reason for his readers to deeply fall into his poetry is attributable to the lively field sensitivity like the village narration. Through the field experience of the poet, the features of square, landscape and uniqueness of the villages as discussed in this article contains the lives of the lower class as reproduced through the field experience of the poet. Therefore, the village narration of the Sin Gyeong-rim's poetry implies the well-structured venue with the life story and poetic view on world for the poet. This study that combines the life stage and field sensitivity of the poet will be a turning point of new approach toward the studies on Sin Gyeong-rim's poetry after breaking away from the frame of character of masses.
