초록

박물관은 학교 · 도서관과 함께 지식을 생산핸 곳이다. 이제 21세기를 지식정보화사회라고
하는례 정보화가 제대로 되려면 그 내용이 되는 지식이 풍부해야 한다. 바로 여기에서 지식은
곧 역사이고 바로 그 역사를 담눈 그릇이 박물관이다. 박물관의 가장 중요한 기능가운데 하나
는 이러한 역사지식을 수장 ? 보존 · 관리하고 연구하여 지식을 생산해 학술기초자료로 제공하
는 일이다.
고고역사박물관이 유물과 유적에 대한 역사적 발달과정에 대한 접근을 하고， 민속 · 민족학
박물관은 신앙， 제의， 구비전송에 집중하고， 미술관은 현대미술의 소장전시를 주로 하고 있는
반면 과학， 산엽박물관은 모든 물질문화에 대한 과학원리탐구와 생산 벚 발달과정에 관한 접
근을주로하고 있다.
21세기에 들어서면서 전통산업에 관한 개념도 바뀌고 있다. 그간에는 전통산업이라하면 우
리 전래의 고유기술을 이야기했으나 지금에 와서는 제조업을 일걷고 있어 이제는 과학 · 산업
의 개념도 선사시대부터 우리 겨레가 일궈온 모든 물질문화로 확대할 필요가 있다. 그래서 여
기에서는 우리 물절문화를 과학 · 산업의 시각으로 바라볼 때 우리 박물관 발전에 얼마나 도웅
이 될 것인지 함께 논의해 보았으면 하는 바람이다.

영어초록

The Science( Natural Science) can be described as that discovers the laws of inevitability
which is coherent in the natural phenomena and delineate them. And the industry offers
orderly, continuously and systematically the products and services which is useful to the social
life of human being by the application of the scientific principles.
’Science and Industry Museum' divides into the five types.
First, ’The Exploratorium’ where people learn by direct experience to the scientific
principles. Second, ’The Science Center' which introduces the concept of ’play’. Third, ’The
Science Museum' which pursuits systematically the scientific principles inherent in the natural
science and the development process of the scientific research equipment. Fourth, ’The
Industry Museum' systematizes the manufacturing process and developmental process of the
useful products by the natural science. And fifth, 'The Science and Industry Museum
comprehends the science and industry.
But we can find the difficulty to classify the strict meaning of them, therefore 1 think the
science and the industry assist mutually in the various fields. The science and industry
museum not only is the place which promotes the scientific knowledges and contributes to the
cooperation between industrial technology, but also takes charge of the role of the social
education institution which reinforces the industrial competitiveness through the security of
scientific and industrial identity and present the VlSlOn of the scientific and industrial
development in the future as the symbol of the State.
Especially as the ’ Cultural Complex' which collects, preserves, researches and educates the
property of science and industry, the science and industry museum has charge of the key role
which constructs the knowledge basics.
Now in our country they have little understanding of the scientific and industrial property.
Therefore. we should discuss the drastic problem how we systematize the perception of the
scientific and industrial properties.
And we ought to work together to establish and operate the scientific and industry museum
as the key institution in order to present the new vision for the future and construct widely
the basic of the knowledge industry.
