We wish to thank all the people who have assisted us in this project. First of all we want to thank our tutor, Ngaire Rix, for her patience and all the support she has given us during the whole project. We are also very grateful to all Aucklanders which gave their respond and feedback on our questionnaire, without them it had not been possible to complete this project. We also had the fortune to be students to Michael Rovers, teacher at AUT International House, who has inspired us to write a project related to environmental issues. Last but not least we want to thank our families and friends which have shown great patience when we have been working late hours during a long time.

Abstract
A high commitment to environmental activities is imperative to secure the sustainability of the environment. This study represents the activeness of Auckland inhabitants toward participating in and caring about environmental issues. By analysing and summarising the data which were collected from Aucklanders’ responses, the major findings that emerged were as follow:
