    Objectives: (E)-stilbene 을 bromination 하여 생긴 1,2-dibromo-1,2-dipheylethane으로부터 Double hydrohalogenation 반응을 통해 Diphenylacetylene을 합성할 수 있고 TLC로 생성물질을 확인할 수 있다.

    Principles:
    alkyne은 염기 조건 하에서 1,2-dihalides의 dehydrohalogenation에 의해 쉽게 만들어진다. 실험 A에서는 brominium ion intermediate이 형성되는데, C=C가 Br2에 친핵체로 작용하여 Br2 의 결합을 끊고 Br-를 만든다. 이 과정에서 Bridged bromonium ion이 C+형태의 중간체를 만들며 안정해진다. 전체 매커니즘은 그림1과 같다. 실험 B에서는 E2 반응이 두 번 일어나는데, OH-가 strong base로 작용하여 H+를 가져오고 Br을 good leaving group으로 만들어 내보낸다.
