본문내용
Language is the only possession of human beings. Having the ability to use language means that I am human. In terms of approaches to studying human language, there are two extremely different ways: Structurally and Functionally. In linguistics, this contrast has traditionally caused the perception of language in general to separate langue, totally inherited set of language system and parole, individual use of language. The purpose of this paper is how two distinct approaches have different point of views as follows: Chomsky’s language as system based on UG and Parameters Theory and Halliday’s language as communication based on Systemic Functional Linguistics. After dealing with the nature of human language, the paper discusses and contrasts how two approaches to the study of language are different with grammar.
What is human language? Comparing between human language and animal language, we are able to figure out the human language features.
