‘Chan is Missing’ is the first Asian-American independent movie employing all Asian actors and crews to represent the Chinese ethnicity, culture, and Chinese life within the United States or more specifically San Francisco. The film is portrayed in black-and-white color with the old style of camera angles followed: Chan is Missing as simplified, in its sometimes repetitive camera technique, static thinking head shots, and numerous close-ups of new clippings.(http://books.google.com/books?id=NzRVDSPlA XIC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_navlinks_s#) The story of ‘Chan is Missing’ starts with the two characters Jo and Steve, both Chinese-American ethnicity and taxi-drives finding Chan who has disappeared with their $4,000 on request for creating the license for their business. As Jo and Steve searches for missing Chan within the Chinese and Manila town community, the film well portrays how it is to be an immigrant and American-born Chinese ethnicity, and features its differences that relates to the background of the film.
