초록

본 연구는 ≪명심보감≫과 챗GPT를 활용하여 대학생의 자기성찰 학습법을 개발하고, 이를 관련 교과목 수업 현장에서 시범 적용하여, 그 운영 사례를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 현대 사회에서 대학생은 빠르게 변화하는 환경 속에서 자아 정체성을 형성하고 자신의 가치관을 확립하는 과정에 놓여 있다. 특히 대학 1학년은 학문적, 사회적 전환기를 겪으며 자기 이해를 위한 성찰의 시간을 필요로 한다. 현대 대학교육 환경에서 자기성찰은 비판적 사고와 주체적 학습을 돕는 핵심 요소로 간주되지만, 이를 효과적으로 유도하는 교수법에 대한 연구는 상대적으로 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 ≪명심보감≫을 활용하여 자신의 마음을 탐구하고, 이를 챗GPT 도구와의 상호작용으로 자기성찰을 유도하는 학습법에 관심하였다. 이에 대학 1학년을 대상으로 한 교양 교과목 인문고전 세미나 수업에서 본 학습법을 실제 운영하고 자기성찰 학습의 가능성과 그 적용 방안 탐색을 목표로 본 연구를 개진한다. ≪명심보감≫은 한국 전통 윤리사상의 정수를 담고 있으며, 인간의 도리와 처세, 삶의 태도에 대한 교훈을 제공하는 동양고전이다. 이 책은 인의예지를 익혀 인간의 도리를 실천하는 윤리적 생활의 기초를 다지게 하는 내용과 선한 행위를 장려하고 자기반성을 통해 삶을 개선하는 길을 내용으로 구성하고 있어, 대학생들이 자신의 삶과 직접적으로 연결하여 사고하기에 적합하다. 대학생에게 자기성찰을 유도하는 데 유의미한 고전이라 판단되어 이와 같이 연구 대상으로 선정하였다.
본 연구에서 제안하는 자기성찰 학습법은 ‘1단계: 텍스트 읽기 및 이해, 2단계: 경험 연결 및 성찰, 3단계: 학습정리 및 적용’의 3단구성이다. 학생들은 『명심보감』의 핵심 교훈을 읽고, 자신의 경험과 연결하여 사고한 후, 챗GPT와의 대화를 통해 성찰을 확장하는 과정을 거친다. 그 방식은 첫째, 학생들은 ≪명심보감≫의 핵심 교훈을 읽고 분석하며, 해당 교훈이 오늘의 사회와 문화 맥락에서 어떻게 적용 가능한지 탐구한다. 둘째, 각자가 경험한 삶의 사건과 연결하여 텍스트를 해석하고, 자신의 가치관과 태도를 점검하는 과정을 거친다. 셋째, 챗GPT를 활용하여 자신의 사고를 확장하고, 인공지능과의 대화를 통해 자신의 성찰을 심화한다. 이때 챗GPT는 학생이 던지는 질문에 대한 응답의 방식으로 학생들의 사고 확장을 유도하며, 자기성찰 과정에서 피드백을 제공하는 역할을 한다.
학생들이 작성한 성찰 실천표와 설문조사, 챗GPT와의 대화 기록을 질적으로 분석한 결과, 본 학습법이 자기이해와 성찰에 실질적인 도움이 되어 ‘자기 이해를 심화’시켰으며, 챗GPT와의 대화가 자신의 생각을 정리하는 데 도움을 주어 ‘반성적 사고의 발전’을 도모하게 하였으며, 새로운 시각의 발견이 사고의 확장의 결과로 이어져 ‘행동 변화 계획 수립’을 하는 데 도움을 주었다고 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 특히 챗GPT는 학생들이 자신의 사고를 객관적으로 돌아볼 수 있도록 도와주며, 다양한 관점을 제시함으로써 자기성찰을 보다 다층적으로 수행할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였다. 본 연구는 이를 통해 전통적인 고전 교육과 최신 인공지능 기술을 활용한 대학생의 자기성찰 학습법의 가능성을 탐색하고, 그 효과성을 살피는 ‘시범적용 연구’로의 의의를 가진다. 따라서 고전과 현대 기술을 융합한 교육적 접근법의 적용 방안 연구는 대학 교육에서의 자기성찰 학습법 발전에 기여할 것이다.

영어초록

This study aims to organize introspection learning methods for college students applying Myungshimbogam and ChatGPT, and use it as an example for class scenes of related subjects, and analyze operational examples. Students in modern society are placed in the process of forming self-identity and establishing their values in the rapidly changing environment. Especially. Freshmen need to have their time of introspection to understand themselves, going through academic and social transformation periods. Though the introspection in modern college education environment is regarded as a key point of helping their critical thinking and subjective learning, it is a fact that studies on teaching methods on guiding it effectively have been relatively deficient.
So, this study is focused on learning methods of guiding introspection, applying Myungshimbogam to explore one’s mind and interacting with Chat GPT. The study was set forth aiming at exploring its application methods and possibility of introspection learning after running actually this learning method for Liberal Arts Classics Reading Seminar for freshmen. Myungshimbogam contains the essence of Korean traditional ethics. It is an oriental classic which provides human morality, art of living, and lessons of attitude of life. Myunshimbogam is appropriate for college students to think relating to their own lives because it is edited by subject with proverbs and famous phrases selected from a variety of classics. The book has been chosen as the subject of research because it is considered a useful classic for guiding college students to introspection.
The introspection learning methods suggested by this study consist of three stages: First stage of text reading and understanding, second stage of experience connection and introspection, third stage of learning organization and application. Students are supposed to read key lessons of Myungshimbogam, think over related to their own experience, and proceed to expand introspection through dialogue with ChatGPT. Through the methods, first, students read and analyze key lessons in Myungshimbogam, and explore how the lessons can be applied in today’s social and cultural contexts. Second, they interpret the text-related cases of life experienced by each person. Third, Applying ChatGPT, they expand their own thinking and deepen their introspection through the dislogue with AI. At the time, ChatGPT induces students to expand their thinking and takes the role of providing feedback in the process of introspection.
By the result of the quality analysis of the introspection practie charts made by students and surveys, and coversation records with ChatGPT, this learning method has been helpful for self-understanding and introspection to deepen self-understanding. The method has promoted ‘the development of retrospective thinking’ because the conversation with ChatGPT helped organize students' thinking. And the discovery of different views have led to the expansion of thinking and helped ‘set up behavior change plans.’ Especially ChatGPT helped students look back to their thinking objectively, and provided them for an opportunity to carry out introspection in multiple process by proposing various viewpoints. Through the method this study explores the possibility of learning method of introspection for college students using traditional classic education and newest AI technology, and it carries the meaning as ‘a study of example application’ to examine its effectiveness. Accordingly, the application method study for educational approach with classics and modern technology fused may contribute to developing introspection learning method.
