혼합로짓 모형을 이용한 여행자의 서울-제주 노선 교통수단 선택에 관한 연구 (A Study on Passenger Transport Mode Choice Behaviour in Seoul-Jeju Route using Mixed Logit Model)

초록

전 세계적으로 1,000km 이내 단거리 노선에서 고속철도와 항공교통 간의 경쟁이 심화되고 있는 가운데, 우리나라 역시 지난 2004년 고속철도(KTX) 개통 이후 서울-대구, 서울-부산 간 항공여객 수는 급감하였다.
이러한 경쟁관계가 지속되는 가운데 우리나라는 내륙과 제주도를 해저터널을 이용하여 연계한다는계획에 대한 타당성 조사가 수행됨에 따라, 서울-제주 노선에서 대형항공사(FSC)와 저비용항공사(LCC) 이외에 고속철도가 신규로 진입하는 것을 가정하여 여행자의 수단선택 행위를 분석하였다.
본 연구에서는 선호의식(Stated Preference) 조사 시, 여행자의 교통수단 선택 행위를 보다 현실에 가깝게모사하기 위해 서울-제주 노선에서 LCC 여객 수 증가에 영향을 미쳤다고 판단되는 다양한 변수들을관계성 분석(association analysis)과 계층분석기법(AHP)을 통해 안전성과 면세점 이용가능 여부라는 잠재신규변수를 도출하고 이를 혼합로짓 모형에 반영하였다.
안전성을 추가한 모형의 분석결과, 비즈니스여객의 시간가치(VOT)는 레저여객에 비해 2,053원, 면세점이용가능성을 추가한 모형에서의 시간가치는 3,090원 높은 것으로 추정되어 기존 연구와 유사한 결과가도출되었다.
안전성 신규변수에 대한 운임 대체율은 비즈니스와 레저여객 각각 5,335원, 2,897원, 면세점 이용 가능여부신규변수에 대한 운임 대체율은 비즈니스와 레저여객이 각각 3,147원, 3,477원을 추가 지불할 것으로 추정되었으며, 이는 잠재신규변수의 운임 대체율을 통해 여행자의 수단선택에 영향을 미치고 있다는것을 확인할 수 있었다.
또한, 항공부문 수단선택에 대한 연구에서는 처음으로 혼합로짓 모형을 적용하였다. 모형의 설명변수중 운임과 여행소요시간에 대한 분포값 해석 결과, 기존 로짓 모형에서는 파악이 불가능 하였던 항공여객의위신효과 및 교통수단 선택 시의 선호다양성(Heterogeneity)을 파악할 수 있었다

영어초록

Amid the competition between high speed rail and air transport has been getting fiercer in short-haul travel market less than 1,000 km in many countries around the world, the number of air transport passengers in Seoul-Daegu and Seoul-Busan routes has significantly decreased since the launch of KTX in Korea in 2004.
As a feasibility study on the plan to connect Jeju Island and other parts of Korea through undersea tunnel was carried out under such competition, this study analyzed travelers’ transport mode choice behavior under the assumption that high speed rail newly enters into the market besides major airlines and low-cost carriers.
For Stated Preference research, in order to describe travelers’ transport mode choice behavior closer to reality, this study derived potential new variables, safety and availability of duty free shopping, among variety of variables seemed to affect increase in passengers of low-cost carriers in Seoul-Jeju route using association analysis and analytic hierarchical process (AHP) and reflected those to Mixed Logit model.
As a result of analysis of models with the addition of safety and availability of duty free shopping, Value of Time (VOT) of business travelers was estimated KRW 2,053 and KRW 3,090 higher than that of leisure travelers, respectively. It is similar to results of previous studies.
When it comes to fare substitution rate of new variables, it is estimated that business and leisure travelers are willing to pay additional fare of KRW 5,335 and 2,897 for safety and KRW 3,147 and KRW 3,477 for duty-free shopping availability, respectively. It confirms that potential new variables affect travelers’ choice of transport mode through fare substitution rate.
Moreover, Mixed Logit model is applied in the study of air transport mode choice for the first time. The result of interpretation of distribution value of far and travel time among explanatory variables of the model found prestige effect of airline passengers and heterogeneity in transport mode choice which were unidentified by existing logit model.
The result of this study can be used in prediction of transport mode choice behavior of airline passengers if new transport mode is introduced in inland and islands of Korea where air transport is unavailable, and establishment of more realistic model through selecting and applying potential new variables which reflect market environment. In addition, this study also can be preliminary data for improving and maintaining competitiveness of air transport such as development of new route, market analysis and building business strategies by airlines as well as in the case that building of high speed railway linking Seoul and Jeju is carried forward.
