남자 중·고등학생의 불법 스포츠도박 실태 조사 (A Survey on the Illegal Sport Gambling of Male Middle and High School Students)

초록

The purpose of the study was to investigate the status quo of the illegal sport gambling of male middle and high school students. To collect data, a survey with 719 middle and high school students was conducted in Seoul, Kyeonggi province, and Chungnam province. The survey was to investigate subjects' experiences on illegal gambling, gambling experiences, irrational gambling belief, sport participation, experience of exercise gambling, and tendency of exercise gambling addiction.
The results show that first, 3.5% of middle and high school students have been involved in illegal sport gambling, and 12.0% of them plan to continue to regain the losses. Second, there was a difference in type of gambling experiences of high school students, and the motive of the gambling was to make money. Students who experienced illegal gambling have more irrational gambling belief than those who have no experiences. Third, sport participation of those who experienced students has no difference than those who have no experience in gambling. Fourth, students with gambling experiences have higher exercise betting experiences than those who are without gambling experiences. Exercise betting tendency was higher than those with illegal gambling experiences. In sum, male middle and high school students' illegal gambling involvement does not seem to be different with adult gamblers' involvement. Therefore, it is highly possible that students' gambling continues to 'adult gambling'. In this regard, it is necessary for schools and families to educate the students with gambling addiction not to be involved in gambling, and fundamentally reinforcement on the rules handling students' gambling participation is needed to prevent gambling problems.
