해방 직후 좌·우익의 역사 만들기와 기념 투쟁 (History Making of the Left and Right Wings and Commemorative Struggle after The Korean Liberation)

초록

본 글은 해방 직후 기념일을 둘러싼 좌·우익의 경쟁을 살펴봄으로써 민족의 항일운동에 대한 역사적 의미부여와 기념의례가 균열을 일으키는 과정에 주목한다. ‘해방 직후’라는 특정한 시·공간 속에서 일제에 저항한 민족사의 흐름은 3·1운동, 6·10만세운동, 11·3광주학생운동으로 대표되었다. 좌·우익은 모두 3·1운동, 6·10만세운동, 11·3광주학생운동을 기념하였지만, 각각의 기념일들을 현재 여기에서, 구체적으로 어떻게 해석할 것인가를 두고서는 끊임없는 경쟁을 벌였다. 특히 좌·우익은 누가 항일운동의 주체인가에 대해 논쟁을 벌였다. 해방 직후 이 문제는 민족구성원은 누구인가, 누가 새로운 국가건설의 주체인가의 문제로이어졌다. 민족구성원, 민족의 항일운동사에 대한 좌·우익의 이해는 상이하였으며, 이로부터 얻어지는 현재적 의미 또한 달랐다. 즉, 좌·우익은 기념일들을 각자의 시·공간 속으로 소환·전유하였으며, 이들의 실천적 모습인 기념식은 균열과 투쟁의 장으로 나타났다.
요컨대 해방 직후 기념일은 민족의 정체성을 구성하는 역사적 사건으로 재현됨과 동시에 신국가건설을 둘러싼 좌·우익의 경쟁에 의해 기념투쟁의 장으로 변화해나갔던 것이다.

영어초록

This study focuses on the process by which the impartment of historical importance to anti-Japan resistance and commemorative ceremonies creates the cracks through an examination of the competition of the left and right wings surrounding memorial days after independence. The flow of national history which resisted against the Japanese was represented by the March 1st Independence Movement, the June 10th Mansae Movement, and the November 3rd Gwangju Student Movement within the specific time and space ‘after independence’. While both the left and right wings commemorated the March 1st Independence Movement, the June 10th Mansae Movement, and the November 3rd Gwangju Student Movement; they had endless competition on how to concretely interpret each memorial day at this time and place. Especially, the left and right had arguments on who was the principal agent of the anti-Japan movement. After independence this issue also led to issues such as who are the members of the nation, and who will be the principal agent in the construction of the new nation. The understanding on the members of the nation and on the history of the anti-Japanese movement by the people differed from the left and right wings, and the present meaning that was gained from these also differed. That is, the left and right wings recalled and appropriated the memorial days into their own time and space, and commemorative ceremonies which were the practical forms of these appeared as the field of crack and conflict. In short, memorial days after independence reemerged as historical events that formed the identity of the people, while at the same time changing into a place of commemorative struggle due to the competition between the left and right wings surrounding the making of a new nation.
