조선족 부모의 초국가적 이주유형과 남겨진 자녀의 우울: 자아존중감과 자아효능감의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Type of Parental Transnational Migration and Depression of the Left-behind Children: Focused on the Moderate Effectof Self-esteem and Self-efficacy)

초록

본 논문의 목적은 중국 연변조선족자치주에 거주하는 조선족 청소년을 대상으로 부모의 초국가적 이주가 본국에 남겨진 자녀들의 우울에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 특히 부모의 초국가적 이주유형이 우울에 미치는 효과를 자아존중감과 자아효능감이 조절하는지 초점을 맞추었다. 이를 위하여 2014년 9월부터 11월까지 중국 연변조선족자치주 내 8개 시⋅현 중/고등학생 2,727명을 대상으로 한 설문조사 자료를 사용하였다. 분석 결과 부모의 초국가적 이주유형 중 <어머니만 해외이주> 유형과 <부모 모두 해외이주 후 재결합> 유형이 여타의 집단보다 우울 수준이 높았다. 다음으로 개인 탄력성 자원 중 자아존중감은 <어머니만 해외이주>한 유형에서, 자아효능감은 <아버지만 해외이주>한 유형에서 우울을 억제하는 조절 효과가 유의미하였다. 본 연구결과는 부모가 해외이주 후 본국에 남겨진 조선족 자녀의 사회심리적응 개선을 위해 강점관점에서 자녀들의 자존감과 효능감을 증진할 수 있는 환경을 조성하고, 부모의 해외이주로 발생한 분거 가족뿐만 아니라 분거 후 본국에서 재결합한 가족에게도 유대감을 증진할 방안이 필요함을 제언하였다.

영어초록

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of parental transnational migration on depression levels of left-behind children who live in Yanbian, China. In particular, this study examined the personal resources of self-esteem and self-efficacy to control the effects of transnational family types on children's social-psychological adaptation. This study analyzes data from “Survey of Korean-Chinese Adolescents in China”, which was conducted by Korea University and Yanbian University from September to November of 2014. Depressive symptoms and deviant behaviors are higher among “those whose parents both migrated and returned to China” and “those whose mother is absent” than other counterparts. In particular, the child’s depressive level was worse when both the mother moved abroad or the family reunited after the parents returned, rather than when there was an absence in long-term care due to overseas migration. Concerning individual resources, self-esteem only moderates the adverse effect of parental absence on the depressive symptoms for children whose mother migrated, whereas self-efficacy has a moderating effect only among those whose father migrated.
In particular, the depression symptoms were worse when both the mother moved abroad or the family reunited after the parents returned, rather than when there was an absence in long-term care due to overseas migration. Second, both self-esteem and self-efficacy, which are personal resilience resources, had a positive effect on reducing depression. Among personal resilience resources, self-esteem was significant in the “mother moved abroad” type and self-efficacy was significant in the “father moved abroad” type. These study results can be used to create an environment in which parents can enhance self-esteem and efficacy in order to improve the social psychological adaptation of Korean children left in their home country after emigration. Afterwards, I suggested ways to provide policies and programs that would enhance the bonds between reunited families.
