대한민국 정부 수립기의 뉴스영화에 관한 고찰-<前進朝鮮譜>와 <전진대한보>를 중심으로- (The Study of Newsreel in the Establishment Era of Korea Government-Focusing on , -)

초록

이 글에서는 1947년 11월 미군정기에서 대한민국 정부가 수립되고 한국전쟁이 발발한 1950년까지의 남한 현대사를 동영상으로 기록한 뉴스영화 <前進朝鮮譜>와 <전진대한보>를 최초로 자세히 소개하였다. 뉴스영화는 해방시기 제작과 검열을 담당한 미군정과 대한민국 정부가 대중에게 기억시키고자 했던 시대의 이념과 기억을 담고 있는 영상사료이다. 제작 의도에 맞게 찍은 영상과 함께 카메라에 담긴 영상에서 새로운 사실을 만날 수도 있고, 역사 연구 축적으로 밝혀진 새로운 진실들을 적용하면, 제작자의 의도가 담긴 아나운서의 내레이션이 전달하고자 한 기억과 영상 너머의 사실을 만날 수 있다. 이 뉴스영화에는 종로의 초등학교 개학식과 명동성당, 서울대학교 졸업식, 반도호텔, 중앙청 등 해방기 서울의 모습도 담겨있다.
이 글에서 주요한 장면으로 소개하고 있는 영상기록은 미군정에서 대한민국정부로의 이양 과정 등 1948년 전후의 남한 현대사이다. 5.10 총선, 제헌국회 개원식, 초대 대통령 선거 등을 생생한 현장음과 내레이션으로 소개하고, 이승만의 육성과 내레이션이 담고 있는 의미들을 재해석했다. 한미협정, 제주 4.3사건 관련 영상들은 역사 연구들을 토대로 영상 너머의 사실들을 밝히고 진실을 드러내고자 하였다. 조선인민이 대한민국 국민이 된 상황을 런던올림픽 출전선수들을 통해 보여주고, 해방시기 천주교와 관련된 뉴스와 그 영상에서 의도하지 않게 촬영된 서거 10여 일 전 백범의 쓸쓸한 모습도 소개하였다.
<前進朝鮮譜>와 <전진대한보>는 해방시기 미군정에서 대한민국 정부로 이양되고 한국전쟁이 발발하는 시기의 남한 현대사 현장을 생동감 있게 담고 있음에도 불구하고, 연구자들에게 전체가 소개되지 않고 있어 전체 내용을 각 호수별로 제목 자막을 표로 만들어 소개하였다. 그중 역사 현장의 생생한 기록과 영상 너머의 진실이 숨어있는 영상기록을 뽑아서 자세히 들여다보았다. 그리고 역사 연구의 축적으로 새롭게 해석될 수 있는 영상을 골라 미군정과 대한민국 정부가 직접 제작하고 검열한 뉴스영화를 통해 국민들에게 전달한 기록, 기억은 무엇이었는지를 살펴보았다.

영어초록

This article first introduced the newsreel <Junjinchosunbo>, <JunjinDaehanbo> which recorded the modern history of South Korea until 1950 when the Korean government was established during the U.S. military regime in November 1947 and the Korean War broke out in detail.
Newsreels are 'visual historic materials'. The United States Military Government in Korea(USAMGIK) authorities and the Government of Korea in charge of production and inspection during Liberation Period used them to make the public remember the ideas and memories of the era. You can meet new facts in the films taken according to the intention of the production, and if you apply the new truths that have beed revealed in the accumulation of historical research, you can meet the historical memory that the narration of the announcer with the intention of the producer wanted to convey and the truth beyond.
The newsreels also feature the opening ceremony of Jongno's elementary school, Myeong-dong Catholic church, Seoul National University's graduation ceremony, Bando hotel and the Central Government Office during the Liberation Period.
The video record, which is introduced as a major scene in this article, is the modern history of South Korea around 1948, including the transition from the USAMGIK to the South Korean government. It introduced the 5.10 general elections, the opening ceremony of the Constitution National Assembly and the first presidential election with vivid on-site sounds and narration, and reinterpreted the meanings of Rhee's fostering and narration. Videos related to the Korea-U.S. agreement and Jeju 4.3 incident were intended to reveal the truths over the video based on historical studies. It showed the situation of the North Korean people becoming the South Korean people through participants in the London Olympics. And it introduced the news related to Catholicism during the liberation period, and unintentionally filmed lonely image of Baekbeom 10 days before his death.
Although <Junjinchosunbo>, <JunjinDaehanbo> vividly captured the modern history of South Korea during the period of liberation from the USAMGIK to the Korean government and the outbreak of the Korean War, the entire contents were not introduced to the researchers. So I introduced the entire contents of the title caption by each lake.
Among them, I selected a vivid record of the historical scene and a video record of the hidden truth and took a closer look into it. And I selected a video that could be newly interpreted as an accumulation of historical research and looked at the records and memories delivered to the citizens through newsreels produced and censored by the U.S. military government and the South Korean government.
