    초록

Jeong In-bo (鄭寅普, 1893~1950) has been recognized as an once-in-a- century scholar who left lots of academic achievements in various fields such as literature, history and philosophy in last period of traditional scholarship era. However, since studies on Jeong In-bo have hitherto been inclined to history and philosophy (doctrines of Wang Yangming), there were only few works about his literatures, for instance, theses about his Sijo (Korean Versus). But his fame as a great author had gained in orthodox Chinese classics, not in Korean Versus. Accordingly, there is a necessity of studying on his Chinese classics, which has been neglected until recently. The main purpose of this study is researching and analyzing about Jeong In-bo’s classics to address study imbalances.
Most of literary works by Jeong In-bo in Written Chinese are Myodomunja(墓道文字, Epitaph or Tribute to the dead). Jeong In-bo’s works show very obiously his consciousness as a patriot who had lived in end of 19th century, period of Japanese imperialism, and independence of Korea. In his Myodomunja’s, Jeong In-bo had expressed his own rage against the Japanese imperialism and anxiety about future of his country consciously, even considering that the life of the deceased was closely connected with those days.
Particularly, we should pay attention to Yuleungjimun (裕陵誌文), which is written by Jeong In-bo when Emperor Sunjong (純宗, 1874~1926) returned to his eternal home. He wrote this literature instead of Yun Yong-gu (尹用求, 1853~1939) who was a Jesulguan (製術官, a position for writing ceremony literature in Chosun Dynasty), however, it wasn’t adopted after all. The tribute to Emperor Sunjong written by Yun Yong-gu himself is included in Sunjongsilrok (純宗實錄), and the it only says that the Jeong In-bo’s work wasn’t adopted because of the <different opinion>. However, it has been believed that the true reason wasconcern about the rubbing Japan the wrong way due to lots of expression showing rage against Japanese imperialism.
The truth becomes more obvious by reading Yuleungjimunitself. Jeong In-bo had depicted Emperor Sunjong as the emperor who lived upon wrath against Japan and past away directly and indirectly in his work. The tone of Jeong In-bo is completely different from same of Yun Yong-gu. Yun Yong-gu also hadhis own historical consciousness as he never accepted main post in government several times after Eulmisabyun (乙未事變, Killing of Empress Myungsung by Japanese in 1895) and rejected a title with which Japan graced him after Japanese annexation of Korea. Even though, when Jeong In-bo’s work is compared to Yun Yong-gu’s, it is distinctly that Jeong In-bo had stronger national consciousness than any other one in same period.
Beside Yuleungjimun, in his other Myodomunja’s Jeong In-bo admired patriotic life of the main character therein, and also expressed his own deep loyalty to the country. Myodonmunja is the literature suitable to reflect writer’s thought through the main character, since it is tribute to the deceased by looking back on his life. This study observes that Jeong In-bo had made best use of the Myodomunja’s characteristics to express efficiently his patriotic spirit.Key Words:Consciousness of the Period, orthodox Chinese classics, Myodomunja(墓道文字, Epitaph or Tribute to the dead), Yuleungjimun (裕陵誌文)
