Mediating Effect of Donation Motivation on the Influence of Sense of Community on Donation Attitude in Female High School Students

The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of donation motivation on the relationship between sense of community and donation attitude in female high school students. Data were collected through a survey of 520 female high school students selected using purposive sampling from 23 high schools located in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and Gangwon Province. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS PC+ Win ver. 25.0, and the research findings are as follows. First, the difference test revealed that donation attitude significantly differed based on grade level and whether the student had experience in talent donation, but no significant difference was found based on the type of region. Second, correlation analysis among the key variables indicated a positive correlation among sense of community, donation motivation, and donation attitude. Third, the analysis of the mediating effect of donation motivation on the relationship between sense of community and donation attitude confirmed that donation motivation serves as a simple mediator. Specifically, donation motivation mediates the relationship between sense of community and donation attitude, suggesting that enhancing both sense of community and donation motivation can foster a more positive donation attitude. Based on these findings, strategies to increase donation attitude by strengthening sense of community and donation motivation were suggested.
